Honestly, I love SOTA. I think it has the best community and transparent development team out there. Unfortunately, in many sites like these there is so much hate that every time we try to say something nice, or the game has an article it is beaten down to the grown.

Just because we would rather support a game in a fashion where we ACTUALLY get things for our money instead of monthly access receipts we are called fanboys, and whales – screams of pay to win and developer favoritism.

Yes there is a pay store, but its all cosmetics, and there is versions of almost every pay item, with in game craftable that is a little more mundane. Houses and Lots on the Add-On store? Yup, but they are also available via player sales in game. I have a guild-mate who has amassed a literal fortune of in-game property and assets just by playing and trading from a $45 game investment. Not to mention all the give-aways and lottery every month.

Now I am not saying the game is without issues or that it is for everyone, mileage varies of course..but it is certainly not as bad as all the naysayers would like you to believe. What amazes me is that when articles DO come out, its the same people on the same boards saying the same bash as they did before. Honestly why do you care? If you don’t like it move on and let someone form their own opinion. Anyway, i’m sure this will be buried as well – but oh well…I’m having fun in SOTA and that’s all that matters to me.

I won’t touch the title for 2 reasons: 1) the reputation of the game itself is terribad, and 2) Garriott’s perplexing antics and dysfunctional personality poisons Portalarium’s image.

I can’t financially support that instability.
