Agreed about certain zones needing re-tuning. It really ticked me of about RIFT (Ember Isle, Dendrome, Planetouched Wilds, and I’m sure how Vostigar Peaks will be).

Sorry you got hit by the thaw elixir. Every once in a while they’ll throw common sense to the wind and implement multiple dumb ideas at once, with bonus points for breaking something that the game had fixed in the first place.

In this case have lore reason for being unable to travel to some impossibly cold place? great! But not warning people about the limitations of the elixir is bad. Then they compound it with dozens of gathering nodes with no use besides crafting the elixir? Less great! And how about we add several loot drops with no use besides the elixir? Terrible! The only way to make it worse is if they forced people to type out the name of each item before they could delete it.

As for the winterberries, for various reasons they are or were the most lucrative of the living world map currencies. Also, you hit the zone at an odd time, because they just nerfed the loot from spiders there to combat afk farmers, so there’s little to no reason to kill many mobs there.

But if you thought that was bad wait till you get to the 5th and 6th living world zones, where they found ways to not just enable but incentivize kill stealing.

Oh damn. We are in Lake Doric now and I loooove it compared to the annoyance that was ice mc ice map. I’m bummed to hear the last two maps are a mess again.

It’s possible I’ve overstated it, (and depending on your playstyle you might not even notice it) but the mechanics are there. It involves loot that drops on the ground rather than directly in your inventory. And unlike most things in the game, it isn’t personalized to you so other people can take it.

The subject header should read “fire and fury” instead…well according to a certain someone during a golfing session while on a “working vacation”, that is. /bleah
