Destiny 2 delays raid rollout, wants you to fight for the puppies

There isn’t a console player alive who is unaware that Destiny 2 is launching next week. The sequel to Bungie’s hit online shooter looks bigger and better than anything seen before, but that doesn’t mean that players are going to get all of the promised content on Day One.

The game will launch on September 6th for Xbox One and PlayStation 4, but the game’s mystery raid isn’t going to go live until September 13th. Players are going to have to wait even longer for trials, which are scheduled for September 15th. The studio also said that it’s going to squeeze in another beta between now and launch to make sure that everything is as polished as possible.

There’s also a new live action trailer for the game narrated by everyone’s favorite space cowboy Nathon Fillion, who says that the bad guys have blown up everything, including the puppies. “It’s time to bring out the big guns,” he says. “That’s not a metaphor, guys — go grab some big guns!” #forthepuppies

I caved and pre-ordered it, all my friends are picking it up and I still have not managed to make them see the light and switch to PC :(

I really didn’t get the appeal of the game. I tried the open beta briefly – I found the evironments very static. The characters seemed rather lackluster. In a nutshell I could,

Shoot a gun, shoot another gun, shoot another gun but with less ammo. Then I could throw some kind of grenade, make a circle and stand in it, punch people.

That’s the game. I wandered around doing these things to various opponents. Then we joined a map where we had to fight what seemed like impossible odds. Turns out we were just supposed to run past the enemies as quickly as we can to get to the next point. At least, that’s what our mute companion did – he was long gone somewhere off completing objectives while we fought our never ending opponents. The bike vehicle seemed fun – it could traverse the electricity water which was handy. It had limitless ammo for its laser guns that seemed to do no damage.

And that was it… oh when I was really lucky I could swing a sword. However, that was less handy since everyone else had a gun and tended to run away from me.

I quickly got bored an uninstalled. What am I missing here (I’m genuinely asking, there’s a lot of hype and I’m clearly not getting it).

I’m not sure how you’re interpreting this as a delay. This is the schedule they announced. It’s not an update to the schedule where they pushed the date back. When other games announce when their new raids / other end-game content is available, you don’t announce those as delays, do you?

I appreciate when developers hold back the endgame content a bit to give people the time to enjoy the rest of the game without dealing with the stress of trying to keep up with everyone else.

I read up on Cayde-6 whilst playing Destiny a while ago and there’s quite a bit to his character. You realise he uses humour as a coping mechanism when everything goes to hell. I’m hoping they go into depth with him a bit more in-game because he has an interesting back story, rather than making him look like he’s this one-dimensional, comic relief character all the time.

Man, Beastie Boys have made some serious bank licensing out “Sabotage”.

Game question, are there going to be destructible environments? Trailer sort of shows shield-guy bashing through a ceiling to elevate, and while I think that would be a cool feature I didn’t think Destiny had destructible environs

Yea, and I’m all for it. I never turn down an opportunity to hear them.

No destructible environments.

I adore this live-action trailer. Cheeseball as it is, it’s got the fun of the live action trailer for the first game only ramped up. But then, I suppose that requires one to find Cayde-6 charming.
