Grim Dawn’s ‘massive’ Ashes of Malmouth expansion arrives October 11th

If you’ve been watching Crate Entertainment trickle out teases for its big Grim Dawn expansion for months and months, wondering when it’s coming, wonder no more: The studio just announced its OARPG is getting the Ashes of Malmouth expansion on October 11th.

As previously covered, this is a buy-to-play game, so the expansion will run $17.99. Crate says the expansion is “absolutely massive,” about half of the size of the original base game. Expect a level cap bump to 100, the Inquisitor and Necromancer masteries, two new story chapters, cosmetic gear system, new factions, new environments, new items, and a bigger stash. There’s a “Rogue-Like Dungeon” coming in a freebie update to follow the expansion too.

Oh cool I am glad they got round to pinning a firm date on this one. October feels like the month I stock up my gaming supply cupboard to get me through the dark winter months and this one will most certainly be in there

Grim Dawn hasn’t quite clicked with me, but I still have to salute Crate for offering a real, honest-to-goodness expansion and charging less than what most glorified-DLC-pretending-to-be-an-expansion sells for.

Old school expansion, stuffed to the gills with content , and at 18 bucks a pop.
Every other publisher (and their most entrenched “fans”) will have you believe they’d go flat out broke if they did that.
And of course they wouldn’t.

Now that I think about it this might even old-school the old-school expansions like D2: LoD. That was a great expansion, but this looks like it has as much if not more for half what we paid then.

Looks like it’s worth the purchase, maybe by the time I need a break from GW2 I’ll buy it.
