The Orochi Tower has arrived in Secret World Legends

The release of the Orochi Tower in Secret World Legends is a big deal for several reasons. For one thing, it wraps up the storyline in Tokyo, resolving all of those dangling plot threads for those who have never explored it before. But for another thing, it also marks the moment when The Secret World and Secret World Legends are both at the same point, content-wise; the relaunched game is no longer lagging behind in content. Now it’s all in there, and the future is an undiscovered country.

Of course, there’s new bits of lore in the Orochi Tower, so even if the past is a well-worn country to you, there’s still good reason to go through the tower and see what it has to offer. Plus, you know, there are all of the gameplay rewards inherent in going through the tower, that doesn’t hurt matters. So get into the tower and put some closure on this moment of The Secret World’s story, why don’t you?

It’s my turn to put the hate on, guess it was only a matter of time.

I hate you SWL for being the best damn mmo in well over a decade, all i do is play, play, and play and when i’m done playing i play more and now it’s official, newer content than TSW has arrived, SWL is ahead of beta(TSW) and from the sounds of the grapevine, you guessed correct, more is on the way!

Too bad the tower isn‘t the end of the Tokyo story (spoiler : Gaia engine, basement, Emma, John and „oh shit, I missed one of the 15 mini scorpions“)

In actuality, the Tokyo lair was also released in this update which puts SWL technically ahead of TSW in terms of content. So that scale has already tipped.

Myself? I’m waiting to see if they can deliver on season two. If not, it isn’t worth it personally. If they can, however…

What’s the difference between a Lair and a Raid?

raid : instance for 10 people, one single boss (at least in TSW/SWL)

lair : open world area for 5-10 people. Has missions (of the kill 10 rats kind), lots of trash mobs. Completing missions allows to spawn minor bosses who might drop summoning stuff for bigger bosses.

Ahead ? Suuuure, if you dismiss the Manufactory dungeons, the missing Elite dungeons, the Penthouse dungeon, the Eidolon raid, the Flappy raid, the faction & side missions that were cut, a somewhat decent character creator, PvP, nightmare zones and all the holiday content. 🙄

Gah, I made the assumption that the “Orochi Tower” content was all the tower content. Silly me :p

The New York raid is available. And instead of NM dungeons, there are now Elite 5-10 dungeons. All the NM mobs (outside of lairs) in the adventuring zones were turned into normal mobs though.

And next up, Samhain with ‘Whispering Tide’ elements so…AgarthaJack? Agartha…Cat? Then Winter event. Caches interspersed. Then it’s the wait to see what they have resource wise. I’m trying to stick to realistic expectations.
