SWTOR celebrates KOTOR’s Xbox One launch with cash-shop outfits and free expansions

It’s been a while since the classic RPG Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic first launched, but Xbox One players are just getting to jump in on October 24th. Of course, odds are high that anyone playing Star Wars: The Old Republic is already familiar with that game… but have you played the sequel expansion where you go and beat the snot out of Revan a few hundred years later?

Look, it makes sense in context. You can find out yourself by taking part in the MMORPG’s new promotion, which is giving away the first two expansions (Rise of the Hutt Cartel and Shadow of Revan) and a KOTOR-inspired speeder for all players. So there’s something fun even if you already have the expansions.

BioWare is also opening direct sales for SWTOR stuff inspired by KOTOR, including Darth Malak’s outfit, the Revan’s Heir title, an Ebon Hawk model for your personal stronghold, and a pack of multiple armors. So why not celebrate a new group of people playing an old game by dressing up like the characters?

I tried finding this on the XB1 today and it’s not in the store. What am I missing?

You need to make sure your Store app is up to date, then they should appear.
If you can’t find it, if you still have an Xbox 360 then you can find it in the store there, otherwise on the 360 site.

So the “promotion” is access to an expansion or two almost all regular players would already have, plus the “bonus” of being able to buy things from the store?

I suppose I should be happy about free expansions and a lack of RNG lootbox bu***hit. To anyone who genuinely is… wanna buy a bridge?

I will be sure to pick it up on the Xbox store, looks like I can play on both my Xbox One and 360 if the store-page makes any sense to me.

I haven’t ever actually finished Knights of the Old Republic before, I had a PC copy but never got far. But I’ll give it another shot, I know it’s a classic.

Oh and redeem some codes here too :P

Ok. Well… cool. I guess.

I’m Luke warm on this because for veteran players, this isn’t really much. I have the Malak outfit, a ship that looks like the Ebon Hawk, etc. etc.

It looks like they are trying to bring new players in via the Xbox One launch. Cross promos and all of that. Meh, cool.

At least it isn’t lock boxes with a chance of getting the cool stuff.

However, given recent events, I bet the speeder is a re-skin. Lol. Hope I’m wrong.

I’ll sub for a month after the server merges just too look around and see any one of my 20 + toons has their name, and how many cartel coins I have. I have a shitload.

That wouldn’t happen to be the swoopbike speeder we already got like a year ago would it? Most everything else there is pretty whack! Why not an actual ebon hawk skin for your ship? Or a companion from KOTOR or I don’t know, something people actually want!?
Oh and while on the subject, where are those new species they promised?

Dam I need to just let this one go!

The codes are REVANRETURNS for the expansions and KOTORSPEEDER for the speeder. Redeem the codes on the swtor website.

The codes expire in 2 weeks.

Well now, how about that. I’ve had half a mind to reinstall and finally finish up some of the story lines for a while now. I suppose some free swag will do it. Time to give it another go.

I’d like to see them finally finish making KOTOR 2.

I’d say that ship has sailed. There’s a good fan patch though that completes the game in a satisfying way.

I know there were several fan projects working on it. Which one ended up being best?

Bioware didn’t make Kotor 2, Obsidian did.

The think the mod you are looking for is called The Sith Lords Restored Content Mod.

I’m a little confused: I thought that the first two expansions were incorporated into the free game when Knights of the Fallen Empire launched, and that everyone -free players and subscribers- had access to them now. Did this change recently?

You were probably subbed and didn’t see or feel a thing. I was.

Nope, the first two expansions were never given away free to new players but as soon as you subbed once you got all the expansions and got the keep them even when you stopped subscribing.

I’m pretty sure that when I started playing in 2015 those two expansions didn’t unlock until I subbed, but don’t quote me on that.
