WildStar patches in Primetime and preps November booster events

The most recent patch for WildStar is Primetime, and it is indeed all about making it the time for Prime. The Genetic Archives raid is now available in Prime difficulty, Protogames Academy is available in Prime difficulty, and both Space Madness and Infestation have been available for Prime challenges. That’s a raid, a dungeon, and two expeditions. But that’s not all, as the dungeons and expeditions can now go to prime level 15 with accordingly better rewards. Plus, there are new rewards available for renovating your housing plot, which isn’t exactly a Prime difficulty but does get your home plot ready for primetime.

The patch should get you primed for the various events coming in November, as detailed in the latest DevConnect dispatch. A free level 50 boost will be available through November 5th, Residential Renovation will run from November 10th to November 17th, and doubled experience is available from November 24th to the 27th. There are also new pets from Madame Fay and new items coming to the shop this month, so check out the full rundown to prime your engines.

I love this game. I really want it to succeed. It’s a ton of fun and the F2P model is fine (looking at you, SWTOR). However, at max level a few months ago as a DPS Esper, I couldn’t find a group in the party finder, so I felt a little lost for things to do. How’s the community now a days? I keep wanting to get back into it as a second or third MMO (FF14 is my main, then usually SWL), but I don’t want it to feel like a single player game.

Looking at Steamcharts, which is obviously not representative of the entire game population, but probably refective of the trends, the game is in a slow, steady decline. Whatever the population was like 6 months ago, probably hasn’t changed significantly either way.

keep in mind that steam stats are not representative of the game as a whole, I don’t play through steam, so I don’t count toward that metric, so I’m sure many others don’t, and a platform like steam encourages lots of people to play since it’s F2P until something else fancy shows up on steam and they switch to that.

replied to myself. lol

I said Steam is not representative of the entire game. However, it is likely a fairly accurate portrait of the overall trends: a slow decline, but one that likely would hardly be perceptible right now from 6 months ago.

oh yeah, i guess you did. sorry. even still it’s a good reminder for everyone who’s claiming the game is dead.

just because a game doesn’t have 12 million subscribers, doesn’t mean it’s dead. I don’t think any game these days can match WoW even on it’s slowest day, and it’s annoying that companies and players alike assume that if they don’t have numbers like Blizzard then obviously they failed.

As far as I’m concerned, it doesn’t matter if a game has 5 people playing or 5 million; the only thing that matters is you have enough to be having fun.

This looks like a fairly healthy update for WildStar. Can someone who’s been keeping up with the game lately confirm or deny whether it seems like things are getting back on track?

The past few “updates” have been nothing more than adding more Prime Difficulty Levels to existing content. The actual story progression stopped with Vault of The Archon last May. Content updates included a new dungeon and one new expedition, and the release of the Housing Community super plots ( one single plot big enough to hold 5 full housing plots, plus a shared filler space )

Aside from that, The Primal Matrix system for endgame advancement, and the Prime Difficulties for Expedition, Dungeon and Raid content…. thats pretty much all we’ve seen in over a year. Back on track? mmmm….. not really.

Well, darn. Sometimes an update looks good on paper, but it takes someone who’s actually getting first-hand experience to know what’s really going on. The housing super plots do admittedly sound cool, though.

Patching up now to get that free boost but I’ll probably be leveling a character from scratch anyway just to reacquaint myself with the game.

Edit: and apparently they’re being DDoS’d at the moment. That’s nice.
