PSA: Elder Scrolls Online is handing out free clockwork pets

Psst! Hey kid! Would you like to get your hands on some of the latest tech from Vvardenfell? How about if it was… completely free? Not good enough? How about two free things? Yeah, I thought that would get your attention.

Elder Scrolls Online is giving away a pair of non-combat pets to celebrate the release of the Clockwork City DLC on consoles. PC and console players can log in to claim a free Brassilisk pet right now (here are the instructions for the different platforms), but there’s a second pet for those shrewd enough to take advantage of the giveaway.

The wicked-looking Scintillant Dovah-Fly is gifted to any player who buys the DLC and first enters the Brass Fortress. That’s it. Two pets, sitting pretty in your bags, begging for oil and routine maintenance. Enjoy!

Nice model design, clicked on the link to ESO and the website asked for my birthday, the most useless way to gate your content, so i put the year 1900.

I still to this day don’t know why ESO asks for your birthday information.

The game is as Adult as an episode of the Ellen Degeneres show. (and probably 50% less entertaining too)

Think of it as an “im not a bot ” wall. ;)

Awesome! Except ESO sells gamble boxes and I’m putting my money where my mouth is. Hard pass.

Respect for that. I currently have an ESO sub until Christmas but it’s facing the axe then – nothing kills my enthusiasm for a game quicker than predatory business practices and although I still log in for a couple of hours a week, seeing all the houses and mounts that are either limited time or gamble box ‘offers’ quickly renders the escapist fantasy null and void.

While I admire the choice and agree with the reason, I said the same thing about cash shops predicting exactly what came to pass. Now there isn’t an MMO without one, including MMOs you buy, sub and pay for expansions. Eventually I gave in. Hang strong!

I’m playing WoW for as long as they dont have RNG boxes. I’ve learned to accept a reasonable cash shop (one I haven’t visited) and to appreciate a good sub first game.

I was into ESO for a bit right before they started their own boxes. Turned me right off. I’ll stop playing video games completely before I play another MMORPG with them.

I too am voting with my wallet. If video game developers want to test my love for gaming against my tolerance for unethical business practices, they’re going to find my wallet sealed tight.

Same. 2017 seems to be almost a national movement against the leisure activities of the past 50+ years. Sports watching, gaming people seems to be getting fed up being taken advantage of. ‘Seem’ being the operative word.
