Marvel Strike Force could pick up Marvel Heroes refugees

As CMs lock down any speculation about Marvel Heroes’ demise on the forums and players do their best to secure refunds before the title goes away completely, the question looms of what game would be an acceptable substitute to fill the upcoming void. Here is one possibility: Marvel Strike Force.

Created by FoxNext Games and Disney’s Marvel Entertainment, Marvel Strike Force is an upcoming mobile RPG with tactical elements. The game is slated to come out in 2018 and will feature both a single-player campaign and PvP battles.

“We wanted to capture the core mobile fantasy of who wins in a fight. Hydra or Shield?” said FoxNext President Aaron Loeb said. “Earlier, we had the question of who wins in a fight. Hulk or Hulk Buster? Now we ask who wins between the Avengers or the Defenders? You’re trying to solve the puzzle of how to beat the other team.”

There is already a game just like this out – “Marvel Future Fight”. It’s also a single player game (and more like Marvel Heroes than this title is) with PvP and loot box drawn heroes, just like this one is. And just like this one, it isn’t remotely *remotely* close to Marvel Heroes in anything other than the property they’re based on.

We’re not just looking for anything that has Marvel characters at all. If we were there are other games that are far closer to Marvel Heroes than this one is.

This isn’t something that will take up any of the void, it’s not the same. And sure, it may be fun on mobile, I’m not saying it can’t be fun because it could be. It’s jut that it’s not the same thing as an action RPG MMO on PC.

And I’m talking about pre-Omega and “BUE” changes, before the max exodus of PC players when Marvel Heroes was still fairly decent. Console players never got to see what the game actually was like, they got the dumbed down railed up version.

who wins between the Avengers or the Defenders?

The Avengers win by default after Iron Fist does something so colossally stupid that he disables his entire team before the Avengers even show up.

If the netflix series was anything to go by it wouldn’t be a stupid act it would be a performance issue..he just couldn’t get his iron fist up that day :) lol

Stopped reading after “mobile”

It’s a mobile game so no it’s not gonna fill a void

Mobile game = cashgrab = instant pass

Let me know when a proper PC game comes around.

I don’t think another mobile cash grab is going to fill the void. Can you even consider games like this MMO? They’re just single-player games with fights against bots and rankings designed to make you want to be the best. You can only be the best by sinking tons of money into them of course.

There won’t be any real superhero MMO’s worth playing for another year or two at least.

I understand people can be upset about MH losing their license and having to shut down but this new ‘game’ is not really anything to be upset about. Marvel seems to launch a new mobile title about every 12 to 18 months. They already have puzzle quest which was 2013, contest of champions which was 2014, spiderman unlimited was 2014, future fight was 2015 and avengers academy was 2016. This new title just keeps with their pattern of licensing out the IP to new companies every year.

Marvel’s franchise needs and certainly can afford more and better than mere mobile games.

Nice jester. But moving to an entirely different platform is going to be likely off putting for many, for one…

Well mobile games are often seen as a bit of a joke so jester works too ;-)

Yeah…my pigtails caught the error in rising hours earlier this morning. The correction is my edit below. The Freudian typo was unintentional. :(

This right here is why I’m a pessimistic dick. The future is bleak.

What a blatant attempt at a cash grab; absolutely terrible.

Mobile RPG means it’s monetized to hell and back. People really should stay clear of that.

Wait till dizney gets word of this!

MHO wasn’t perfect, ran on a shoestring budget, but it’s leagues better than what’s being advertised by FoxNext from the looks of it.

just reinstalled MHO because they practically gave out the cash shop.
Well, the game became very, very good. I had a lvl60 toon for year now but didn’t do endgame because the game was very frustrating even a year ago.
But now it’s a very ok game even a good game.
It’s crystal clear what should be changed. They should patch out the ridiculous inventory system. Simplify the crafting and they have a winner. It’s really apparent they overcomplicated systems for the sake of F2P and that destroyed the game.
I hope someone patch these things out and make a private server. Or release one so we can play on ours.
Or the best would be to make it offline and slap a $40 tag on it.

That’s not what destroyed the game.

The switch to focusing on console development and thus the lack of updates on the main PC version is the main culprit.

Reader
McGuffn

Well this is blatant.

Reader
kody

Yep, nope. That doesn’t come close to being a substitute for MHO. It’s a mobile game, and it’s not even the same genre.

Looks like a Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes kind of game. Anyway, its going to be bad and it will make Disney more money than Marvel Heroes ever did.

“Mobile RPG” LOL. Mobile games are for the toilet, both literally and figuratively. The Marvel Heroes refugees will just go play other ARPGs like PoE and Diablo 3, or another game genre entirely. I should know, I am one of them! Is this sponsored or something? Why even cover this garbage?

A mobile game?

No freaking way.

Maybe… MAYBE if there was a PC version, with PC features, UI, and functionality. If it gets a straight mobile port however…. No freaking way.

On another note

HEY DEVS – How about you make a new super hero mmo game? You have players from DC, CO, CoH/CoV and now Marvel Heroes who will most likely throw money at you if you do.

A mobile game. A mobile game where you don’t really get to control your character. A mobile game where you just put teams together and pit them up against other teams. This is just Star Wars Galaxy Heroes but Marvel flavored.

Hey guys I thought since we were just saying anything with the word Marvel in it would work as a replacement I’d like to plug my own idea. Just this image. I thought you could look at it, close your eyes and then imagine yourself doing all kinds of progressive rpgs things with iconic Marvel characters.

I really can’t take all of the credit on this one – although I certainly deserve it. It really was a team effort. From the guy…I think his name was Harold…maybe Stan…the one with the goatee who parked my car each and every morning.

To Nancy. Old Nancy. She’s listen to my jokes about bra sizes and my weekend dates…all the while bringing my coffee each and every morning. NANCY ONE MORE MISTAKE WITH THE SWEET -N- LOW AND I SWEAR TO GOD YOUR KIDS WILL NEVER EAT IN THIS TOWN AGAIN.

And then there is Schlag. What more can you say really? He grunts along doing all of the work while I get the interviews. The office. And lest ye forget…the paycheck! But really where would I be without Schlag? I’ll tell you where. I’d be on Highway 72 with the top down in my Electric Blue Lambo just like I’d be now. Love yeh babe! *winks at Schlag’s date* *raises trophy to an adoring public*

uhhhhh.
*wipes drool from bottom lip*
Jesus that was a weird one. I seriously need to go back to rehab.
*collapses back into pillow*

Almost seems like an ad as that game is nothing like Heroes aside from the Marvel name.

It’s a mobile game and not an action rpg with MMO elements, so it’s not a replacement for Marvel Heroes for me.
