Make My MMO: Camelot Unchained inches closer to beta one (December 2, 2017)

This week in MMO crowdfunding, Camelot Unchained’s weekly progress report is on the shorter side (for CSE) given that the game’s monthly newsletter just went out, but there are some interesting tidbits within, including the fact that the studio is considering uprooting the game’s hosting services and migrating elsewhere. The team’s also been working on battlegrounds and warbands, status effects, animations, female clothing, tech stuff, and boats.

In great news for anybody still lamenting World of Darkness, victory seems assured for vampire MMORPG Shadow’s Kiss, whose Kickstarter should conclude on Tuesday with more than double its ask.

Meanwhile, Elite Dangerous patched its patch, Shroud of the Avatar is hosting a Movember team, Valiance Online teased female toons, Project Gorgon is planning its next update early tomorrow morning, we spoke to Mark Jacobs about developer wages, Ship of Heroes prepped its combat alpha, and Star Citizen drove eyebrows to the sky by announcing the pre-sale of land claims in space.

Read on for more on what’s up with MMO crowdfunding over the last couple of weeks and the regular roundup of all the crowdfunded MMOs we’re following.

Ehh i wouldn’t call deathmatch “beta”…they couldn’t even flesh out some of the core game for a actual beta that they’re making these playtest to cover for their “2017” beta1 drop date. In all honesty.. i do believe were getting siege matches but this is just mini-games to me and it’s not what the core of CU is even about.

Still don’t think B1 is coming in the next 3 weeks, esp since the holidays coming up…expect a Beta 1 delay friday stream with MJ trying to tame the restless folks (rightfully so) who gave their money for a project that was supposed to be in beta several times.

Sieges are the hardest part to get working well, I’d imagine. Large scale pvp is the make-or-break of these kinds of games.

Well, you’re partially right about the Saturday Night Sieges. Most of what Camelot Unchained is all about will be tested during them. Not everything of course, but as sieges get more and more interesting, and our testing regime also gets more interesting, they will be quite helpful to us and, at times, represent CU well.

If the SNS work out the way I hope, we will be able to test the kind of stuff that would be a major pain in the tail to do in a typical battle. Mini-games/scenarios/battlegrounds, whatever name is attached to them, if they can allow us to test all sorts of combination of classes/races/situations, that would fall under what CU is all about. The form would be different, scenario vs. open world, but what happens in them would be the same or, at least, have a lot of similarities.

Thanks for your patience and support. I’m looking forward to talking to all of our Backers late next month. :)

I’m excited to see how Shadow’s Kiss makes a MMO for around 60k $.

the ks video actually makes it look credible. lol. but i don’t think i’ll be backing this as i’ve learned the lesson too hard too many times now.

Yeah, same here. I’ll be keeping an eye but… If they got it wrong with the server netoworking code, on that kind of budget, they’re screwed.
