Secret World Legends’ Krampusnacht includes daily gifts for all alts

Apparently all Secret World Legends characters have been good girls and boys this year because they are all getting gifts for Krampusnacht! Community Manager Andy Benditt announced in the game’s official Discord channel that the winter holiday’s daily event rewards — which in previous events were restricted to just one character on the account — can be claimed by every character. These rewards are mostly holiday-themed titles, clothing, pets, and a sprint.

Will the event include the celebrations from The Secret World of yore, or will something new be introduced? We’ll keep you posted when new information is available. Krampusnacht will run from December 12th, 2017, until January 2nd, 2018. A new loot cache will be introduced when the event begins.

I’ve really enjoyed this iteration of the Secret World. It’s not perfect but the gameplay is much smoother and makes it many times easier to enjoy the excellent story without suffering the dreadful beatdowns of the original. And the Halloween event this year was lots of fun so I’m very hopeful about this announcement.

Community Manager Andy Benditt announced in the game’s official Discord channel

Developers, stop fucking doing this. Discord is great for chatting, terrible for delivering information to the community at large. Funcom, get some fucking official forums for fucks sake, the fact that there still aren’t any (unless they snuck by without me noticing) is god-damn pathetic.

Honestly, it doesn’t even need to be a forum. Forums are for interacting and dialogue. I would be happy if they just had a single reliable go-to source for CURRENT game information. Like, say, an official web page?

The game web pages (of so many games) are these forgotten, useless marketing swamps, while the devs take to some other method (reddit, Twitter, discord, whatever’s trendy this moment) to give ACTUAL updates.

Call me crazy, but that’s idiotic.

” I would be happy if they just had a single reliable go-to source for CURRENT game information”

Already exists, it’s a site called Massively OP. Jokes aside i’m being honest, i find out here what’s going on with the game way before the people playing the game do. I’m like hey new loot coming in the Winter Event i type in Cabal chat, entire Cabal is like what? where you read that?, lol.

Totally agree with Greaterdivinity and styopa though, twitter, discord, or reddit, or whatever the social flavor is that month, i don’t bother with that chit, so yea like everyone else playing the game we remain in the dark. So i come here, sort with the Secret World Legends under popular mmorpg’s and viola latest news!

I wouldn’t disagree at all.

Publisher/Developer communicative schizophrenia is probably the number ONE driver of regular visits to this page.

Oh, certainly, MOP have some interesting editorials and commentary occasionally, but what keeps bringing me back here is a reasonable certainty that if it’s happening, and it’s meaningful (in the commercial game industry) it’ll be touched-on here with a modicum of intelligent context.

I’m not being charitable.
You earn it every day, in my view.

Forums are becoming a thing of the past. More and more communities are moving away from them.

Lol, what?! This is literally the only MMO I have played that does not have an official forum.

Doesn’t matter. A forum is where any official info should be disclosed, together with the common places of information, like Reddit.

A game without a forum, is lacking a clear way of contact between the devs and the gamers. And it’s clear that funcom has no interest in hearing the lockbox complaints so, they didn’t bother.

Funny you should say. Thinking about it now, official forums used to be great for help with difficult quests and such. These days however, whenever I do a search for help the results very rarely land in official forums, but more likely places like Dulfy, Unfair, Ayin Maiden, and Reddit. Interesting that.

When i got into mmo’s i never went to the forums, i honestly thought the only people that go there are peeps with problems, little did i know how correct i was.

It’s interesting that i find, back then in early days of EQ2 i was in with heavy dedicated players, yet they never used forums or had much of an idea of what’s going on, i’m the one always going hey next week yada, well here i am again in with some extremely devoted dedicated players, and again have no idea what’s happening, i’m always like hey next week, again.

I actually missed the days when i unknowingly stayed clear of all the mumbo jumbo.

But yea the forums have changed i remember the time it was all about helping each other out.

Just as many people would not read forums. It just might be a different subset of people.

Most players don’t seem too.

A number of different channels should be used to promulgate information but it’s locus should always be the official forum.

I’m not entirely sure why. I mean, I can see people saying that SWL should make better use of its already existing news page, but official forums? I don’t think it is needed anymore.

Forums require more rules/moderation/time/money and people will chat about the game wherever they want anyway. Also, if the moderation is too loose, forums become sewers. Too strict, complaints of censorship.

Access to developers? So far I have seen more direct interaction on Discord than I ever have on a forum.

I’m not saying forums can’t be good if you have the time to do them right, just that I don’t think they are the way information has to be provided anymore.

I don’t see how having a forum on Reddit can improve on those criticisms. The problem with moderation exists there too but Funcom have less control there. I think the very fact that many people are saying a forum is needed is a pretty good reason for them to implement one and they have the resources. They did run a forum for TSW too remember.

Access to devs? I’ve seen some CCs on Discord but no Devs myself (but I’m not looking too hard so may have missed them) but the point about official forums is it’s easy to find when you need information or have a problem. It also gives the Devs/Community Team a chance to address issues/grievances in a more personal manner than in a public space like discord/reddit. It’s the main place

Clearly what they have now, works after a fashion but having their main communication tool would I believe be better.

I was only referring to Discord. Reddit may be a whole other kettle of trolls. :)

I do remember that they had a forum for TSW. I do not know what it took for them to run it, though, or what % of the playerbase used it.
