In a move that will shock nobody who’s played the game, watched the game being played, or followed the multiple delays suffered by the game during its testing this fall, 612 Games has delayed the early access launch of Wild West Online and will not launch it on Steam in 2017 as promised as recently as November 15th, when the alpha for early access began.

“While we originally entertained the idea of releasing this year in December… the last few weeks have showed us that we clearly need to spend more time in Early Access Alpha before we’ll be ready to release the game to a larger audience. In short, no, Wild West Online will not officially release in December this year,” wrote the developers last night on Facebook, saying that they’re still working on specific mechanics they want in for launch. Those include “mounted combat on horseback, hunting wild animals as well as more structured PVP events and global events happening in the world that you can participate in,” though apparently “a number of gameplay issues” are also stopping the rollout.

More information on the game’s roadmap is expected later today.
