One Shots: Boy band cover art

It’s one thing to strike a pose and get a good-looking selfie in there, it’s another to coordinate a whole group of twitchy gamers and get them to take a group photo without someone jumping or facing the wrong way or forgetting to emote.

Vincent Clark has mastered this group pose in the formation of his new Final Fantasy XIV boy band album called “Ears over Eorzea.” We anticipate great things from this mostly shirtless crew of well-manicured rebels, as long as they don’t fall into that hot tub and drown.

I asked players to share pictures and stories of times where they felt the nasty sting of envy in MMORPGs. Sure got a lot of responses, too!

“Another old City of Heroes pic,” sent in Jon Sleeper. “These guys were level 40 (the cap at the time) when I was in King’s Row. Considering how grindy leveling was in the game at the time, I was a bit envious.”

“I finally joined the Warframe party a little later than many, but have really, really had a lovely go of it these last two weeks (almost 80 hours already),” said Rees Racer. “I keep my nearby laptop open at all times to the Wiki, so I can make proper choices and get descriptions on all the equipment, items, lore etc.

“I also quickly discovered there is, of course, another game within the game. There is a reason it is also known as Fashion Frame. Not only are the cosmetic options many, but also quite a few skins are apparently made by the community as well (for sale through Steam). The best place I’ve found to see the largest number of frames in one place in at Cetus, where I can view what other players find aesthetically appealing… or revolting, and perhaps get some new ideas to incorporate into my original costuming colours and accessories.”

“I love how Overwatch changes the weapons with every skin. Zarya’s Totally 80’s skin gives her weapon a boombox design,” submitted Little Bugbear.

I toooootally love this. It’s tubular!

“Many years ago I was playing EverQuest II (you can see me in between the windows on my horse) when a player called Nappie flew by,” said Camelotcrusade. “It was only a fleeting glimpse, but he wore an outfit so bad that it transcended visual trolling and became its highest expression: Art. Envious, I promptly inspected him and opened up the dressing room so I, too, could be like Nappie. While so doing, I noted he is of course a starving tailor, eschewing food, and surviving purely on style. For while fashion fades, style–they say–is eternal.”

LONG LIVE NAPPIE

“…is there a strange emote or dance in your MMO that amuses you?”

I’ve gone on entirely too much about Warframe this week, so I didn’t want everyone to think I’ve forgotten about my proper MMO’s in the interim.

My first experience with the Elder Scrolls games began more than 20 years ago with Daggerfall. Although I was at first rather unimpressed with ESO, I’ve come to very much enjoy the world, as the game has improved quite a lot since it’s launch more than 3 years ago. The consistent content improvements with DLC’s and the recent Morrowind expansion have really solidified it all.

One of the more unique emotes is /juggleflame, and although completely unnecessary, is one I use occasionally when I step away for a few minutes. My Bosmer Nightblade apparently has some idle time with the glorious Clockwork City as a backdrop…

Thanks for the feature, Justin! Nappie will live on in our hearts and wardrobes.

Moving on to this week’s challenge, I certainly have a lot of emote pictures. However, most of them are from a project I did a with a friend who was learning VN software. I was learning image editing at the same time, and so we teamed up as practice buddies, with him learning Ren’Py and me converting my SWTOR characters into a themed image set.

The VN didn’t make it beyond practice, but I did end up with a sizable image bank. So when Justin said “boy band” and then said “emotes” I knew just where to go in my archive. I pulled out a few of my favorite poses, put them on a background, and added a sprinkle of color. I’m no Schlag, but I hope the master approves. ✨

Took down the new raid in WoW, after which Silithus changes once you beat the raid.

Oh…so you can still mine Thorium Ore there if you don’t raid then? o.O

I think so

Reader
blah blazh

does it only change if you do the raid? If so, kind of leaves the non-raiders out of the story progression yes?

Reader

Non-raiders have always been left out of story progression, unfortunately. I’ve only just found out what happened to Archimonde in Warlords of Draenor after randomly coming across Hellfire Citadel with enough iLvl to solo it :)

I’m sure they will switch it over for everyone eventually.

Hmhm. Long time no post.

Well, new update for B&S necessitates that I post. Here are some shots that I took. At this point I pretty much only login for a few hours at a time every now and again, completely ignoring progression. Too many games to play, not enough time…

Where did you get that jump suit from? I don’t remember seeing it in the Wardrobe UI. O.o

It’s in the loooong list of Hongmoon Store outfits and was only on sale for one or two weeks. Easy to miss, unfortunately. (I was incredibly happy to finally get my hands on it.)

Ok. Your running along leveling in BnS. Suddenly, the quest objective actually states to open up a chat window and type /intimidate. And this is what you get. Pretty sure Batman doesn’t do it this way.

And watching my Destroyer try to flirt is amusing and cute too. She has some long fingers and a few broken ones too. With good reason.
