Life is Feudal: MMO counts ‘tens of thousands’ of players in open beta

So how’s the Life is Feudal MMO doing since it hit open beta a few weeks ago? The login issues and emergency game wipe aside, it’s apparently attracted a decent number of players. In a press release just before the weekend, developer Bitbox implies the game has “tens of thousands of players” romping through its “massive open playground in a huge medieval world.” Indeed, it’s also released a new trailer demoing what “thousands” of gamers have built since the start of the open beta. Stone keeps and thatched-roof huts for days. I even spied a snowman in there.

The game is still marked with a January 2018 launch date on Steam. Starter packs on the official site begin at $29.99.

I like it. It’s grindy as hell, but the payoff is more satisfying than that in other MMO’s.

How common is PK ?

I watched a YouTube video of a guy named Hitler and a couple of friends who went around conscripting players to join him in killing other players, or be killed themselves, then go around just PKing players just farming and minding their own business.

Not sure if I want to play a MMO where the only person having fun is Hitler. Actually, scratch that, I’m sure, I don’t.

I watched a YouTube video

Too late to edit my post, so replying instead.

Jump ahead to the nine minute mark to meet Hitler.

I’m not in the game myself but from what I’ve seen and heard that would be very dependent on who your neighbors are as it can take hours to travel across the map.

Best bet for this game is to find a guild talk to them on Discord then decide on whether or not you want to get it.

That’s exactly how it goes. If you decide to start up with the established guilds, that are so close to each other, I’d expect more PK. If you’re off on your own with just a few guilds, you’re good. It’s not KOS

Adolf and his friends didn’t seem to be guild associated to me, more like just roaming PKers. /shrug

it’s still kinda rough and somewhat odd compared to the normal mmo where you go out and kill some mobs at start. here you dig, gather, build and train combat with buddies and on a training doll but i still can’t stop playing it somehow :)

It’s a grindy game, but it’s pretty fun.
