Anarchy Online and Age of Conan host an arrested development sale

Just because an MMORPG’s development has been put into suspended animation doesn’t mean that profit still can’t be made! To wit, check out Funcom’s can-do spirit, which doesn’t take “maintenance mode” for an answer when it comes to holiday sales.

For whatever reason, the studio is holding a sale on Funcom Points for both Anarchy Online and Age of Conan. These titles, you might recall, joined the original Secret World earlier this year in having their active development canceled while nominally keeping the servers running.

Anyway, both games are throwing in bonus points when you buy certain tiers of bundles. Additionally, Anarchy Online has a luxury armor set that it would like to sell you as part of a multi-month membership package.

They took AoC out in alley and cut it’s throat why should anyone spend a dime? They could have done so much more with that game….such a waste

*chuckles* So much sarcasm. So they have only SWL and Conan Exiles in active development? Well, considering SWL is blooming might actually work.

SWL is blooming

Only visually (and it’s not a pretty effect). When I see that around 6-8pm CET there are stretches of 30-45 minutes of dead silence in #sanctuary, it screams “withering”.

What a misleading title. I was hoping this was where I could buy my own banana stand…

*sour taste after TSW and AO ghosting intensifies*

Nearly 18 euro a month + FX for a sub… I used to love AO, but no way I’m paying that plus a microtransaction shop.

Not gonna lie, I don’t even play AoC (though I have it installed!), and if they brought back lifetime subs at a bit of a discount I’d totally pick one up. I’m sad I missed out on a number of them (DCUO and LOTRO/DDO off the top of my head).

I should load that back up over the holidays, it’s been a while since I created a new character that I abandon after a few days. Stupid friends either no longer playing MMO’s or refusing to play any MMO other than WoW nowadays : /

Non of my core gaming group play mmo’s anymore. I miss playing with them. Its either single player games or Board games for them. 20 of us used to play LOTRO and had a guild. Same with AO back in the early days.

It’s so hard to get into the game after Tortage… I still miss it, though, and would buy a lifetime sub if offered.

Yeah, I never manage to continue playing to make it out of Tortage…last time was probably when I played at launch : P

I really do want to get past there again, though, just to see how things have changed since I know they did a bunch of work. But it’s always so long between play sessions that I’m totally lost and feel the need to remake a character.
