Path of Exile is adding a map stash tab

Where are you going to store all of your maps in Path of Exile? There are too many maps, and you have no place to store them. Picture your character tripping over maps, sighing in frustration, looking at the screen and exclaiming, “There’s got to be a better way!” You know, like an old infomercial.

Good news! There is a better way! Specifically, it’s the addition of a new map stash tab, allowing you to… well… stash your maps. In that tab. You can put maps there. It pretty much does what it says on the tin.

While technical limitations had long made it difficult to have a stash tab for non-stacking items, those limitations have been solved, and players will be able to benefit from a more useful storage method. Check out the video just below to get a more in-depth overview of the new feature. Now you don’t have to cram dozens of maps into your pants! (It is assumed that was your previous storage method.)

The stash tabs are the only thing i want/need from their cash shop…that says a lot about their cash shop. Sometimes i wish they had a straight up donate button, id hit it up from time to time cause I’m not into cosmetics at all and don’t mind paying for great content

Just buy the quarter packs then and don’t wear any of the stuff. Except the tshirts.

I love Path of Exile, but I hated trying to manage all the maps I found. Can’t help but feel this is charging $15 for a quality of life improvement everyone should benefit from. I suppose the same issue could be raised about some of the other premium stash tabs, but $15 makes this their most expensive stash tab (the Quad stash tab is also $15 but is just four tabs squished into one page).

That would apply only if the game had a box purchase attached to it. We’re getting 99% of the entire thing for free, if you’re playing the game to the point that having the Map Tab is essential, the least you can do is throw them 15$ for the equivalent of 10-20 tabs’ worth of storage.

Having started playing POE this season since not playing since Beta this is kinda the impression I’ve had with the game. A lot of the game systems seem to be designed with selling players storage space in mind. Currencies. Divination Cards. Essences. Maps. The fact that there’s vendor recipes that encourage holding onto specific sets of items to sell for higher end currencies.

While I don’t particularly begrudge them using these kinds of business strategies it put an interesting new light whenever I read someone talking up the POE model now that I’ve seen how it actually works first hand.

The number of maps that can be stored in this single tab is far more than what could be stored in a quad tab (72 maps per map type, 14 map types per tier, at 16 tiers is just over 16K maps, not including uniques, in a single tab; assuming my math is right).

This is a good thing but it should be noted there is currently a limitation for the folks who mostly play in the standard league.

With the recent expansion came a whole slew of new map types and it changed the way maps are handled by the client. I assume to allow this stash tab among other things. However rather than convert any existing maps you may have had in storage to the new format these are now termed legacy maps and left as they were..

So the limitation you can only store one map format in the tab, it will only store either legacy maps or the new maps format but not both at the same time..

You can of course purchase two tabs so you have one for legacy map and one for any new maps going forward. You will eventually exhaust your legacy supply as they will no longer drop and may end up with a stash tab you don’t need.

For me personally it’s not an issue as I generally play seasonal characters whom I delete eventually along with their stored items. I rarely set foot in the standard league. However it is something to bare in mind if you are a standard league player.

GGG is just killing it lately. Between the fantastic content updates, consistent pace, and great communication I have nothing but praise for them. Bought this map stash tab right away!

This is a heroic effort to answer a tremendous need. Kudos to GGG for finding a way to overcome the technical issues related to creating such a complex tab.
