Star Citizen’s Around the Verse on alpha 3.0, atmo flight, and Squadron 42 info

Shake it off, Star Citizen: On this week’s Around the Verse, CIG says it’s “getting close to live release,” stress testing the current version of the game with 176 must-fix issues still to go. Is that too many to make it by 2018? Probably! Are they still trying anyway? Probably! The back half of the episode focuses on atmospheric flight (and yes, it’s just going to make Star Wars Galaxies fans sad) as the engineers explain how they’re making flying spaceships near the ground feel as real as possible for different sizes and types of vessels and atmo situations.

Meanwhile, as MOP reader Space Captain Zor pointed out yesterday, CIG has pegged December 20th for the Squadron 42 details promised for this month back at CitizenCon; that rollout will apparently include an exclusive newsletter, Mark Hamill teaser video, and report during next week’s streamed ATV. That’d be the same Squadron 42 over whose existence Crytek is currently suing CIG. 2018 is going to stretch our popcorn budgets thin!

Funny – Ben Lesnik’s twitter page still has a link to the CIG/RSI website.

Plus his wife’s twitter still shows her with the company:

Shows what happens when you start believing Derek Smart actually has any actual ‘inside info’ (he doesn’t.) He’s just his usual shade of green with envy spouting whatever his delusional mind can come up with.

The main thing that boggles me about Star Citizen is how much I still want to buy into the whole idea despite how questionable the process seems to be.

It would be great to tool around the solar system in a luxury space yacht with my friends. Star Citizen will never launch. It would be great to tool around the solar system in a luxury space yacht with my friends. Star Citizen will never launch. It would be great…

I wish I never backed this game or could just get a refund. Not worth my time to request one, get a lawyer, etc. but a good lesson for me. I bet 50% of the backers of this game and those who may have been remotely interested in it now simply feel meh about it.

Looking at last Anniversary sale, the best of all 5 years and new RSI accounts, you can change your 50% in 0.5%

Doesnt have time to request refund. Yet has time to whine on forums about wanting to refund.

You can get a refund easily, just contact their customer services and politely request one, they’ll send some canned responses and just keep saying you’d like to proceed with the refund. Minimal time involved and no lawyer/threats needed. There’s a subreddit dedicated the subject if you want to find more advice.

The subreddit is, sadly, just a hotbed of tin-foil hatters and fakes. But the rest of your advice is spot on.

Yeah there’s a lot of that on the subreddit but there’s also relevant info for seeking refunds, all depends on what you want to read and what you want to ignore.

You are outdated… Not so easy anymore… and apparently just “been nice” and without lawsuit threats and/or alerting authorities is not working so well… probably will depend of how much money he invested…

Sure… All of those claims are based on individual for which Polygon still have not yet validated their claim. This is as valid as the 15K and 45K… Someone contacting a site claiming “I ask for this amount…”.

Here is mine. Proven true with real scam of a bank account. I swear, this is true, the Clown has witness it :)

Polygon contacted the consumer authority in the case and publicized his comments in the article. Maybe he is “fake” too?

If Polygon did their job correctly, hats off! because that is rare enough to be mentioned. Nevertheless one swallow does not make a summer… and this is still negligeable in the big scheme of things.

How is Ben by the way? :)

They do seem to be taking a bit longer but some of that is because they went through a spell where they weren’t addressing refunds at all due to focusing on 3.0 The refund in that Polygon link would have fallen into that period as well. One or two cases doesn’t make the norm…

2018 is going to stretch our popcorn budgets thin!

These is currently a world wide popcorn crisis in the offing and I am not sure that the popcorn silos have enough stock to cover all the drama Star Citizen will bring to the table. I know its a horrible thought but we might have to resort to chocolate raisins if things get any worse.

Stop panicking, sir that is no excuse to run around with your underwear on your head and pencils in your nose CALM THE EFF DOWN, we have a plan.

We have top scientists well we have a top scientist well when I say top um …. ok its Fred down at the garden centre on the case and he has come up with an idea that shows some much promise. In laymen terms he is developing a super corn that will have more pop per kernel. This will wipe out in a single pop our concerns about the popcorn silo stock and be more than enough to cover a 3xSCDE (3 x Star Citizen Drama Event).

The problem is funding this is not going to be a cheap venture but I am sure that you will all agree that to protect our popcorn stocks and to ensure no one has to eat a chocolate raisin, Sir put that pencil back in your pocket, thank you.

So if you will all just donate $1 to the following account we will get this show on the road RSI@TotallyLegitandNotaScamPaymentsINC.

“with 176 must-fix issues still to go”

Every Friday they have more than they did the week before. Seems to be heading in the right direction.

i suspect they’ll push it to live the weekend before xmas as is no matter what. gotta get that sweet xmas sale money from all the backers playing it that suddenly need space bikes. lol

No way they will want a few more months of monthly subs.

The thing is that anyone who is really interested in 3.0 have paid a sub and are playing it now.

Reader
Joe Blobers

False. They are not playing it but testing it. Still 176 bugs to go through, 49 less than last week.
CIG does not need to get 10.000 of the same bug report. This is PTU and they drive testing to be efficient… The facts CIG decided to allow in first two waves individual which are the most involved in the game rather average guys who won’t care about reporting reports is a wise move.

Reader

Right, right, testing. I could link you countless of people on youtube who are simply playing the game, as well as streamers who are playing the game.

Countless of people subbed to get access to play 3.0 and not test, the evidence is all over youtube.

You don’t even understand how bad this potentially is, CiG now knows that people are willing to pay for access to 3.0, there is no incentive for them to release it to the wider audience for free.

Purely out of business perspective, it’s better if people pay to play than play for free, the sales were doing pretty good this month so clearly, the sub didn’t hurt them on that front. I suspect the Pay to play model is here to stay for a while, at least for most people. But only time will tell.

current testing focuses are basically (attempting to) playing the game with a selection of ships and vehicles and being online.

i know several people that are waiting for it to go live personally i would guess there a fair number more that either aren’t aware they can sub now for access (i didn’t know you could sub after the fact to get access for example), or wouldnt do that anyway.

and xmas sales with a live 3.0 will bring in A LOT more cash than a few months of subs.
