This is it, people. We are counting down to the final days and hours of 2017, and I know that there is usually this elation at shedding an old year in favor of a new and hopefully better one. But that doesn’t mean 2017 was a wash, especially for MMORPGs.

While some games faltered or died this year, others had pretty strong runs. Fan favorites like Final Fantasy XIV, Elder Scrolls Online, and Guild Wars 2 all put out well-received expansions. World of Warcraft announced both an expansion and a classic server. Some games made the jump to new business models and consoles. And then there are those titles that faithfully pumped out a constant stream of fun and enjoyable content over the past 12 months.

So if you were to look at the whole year overall, which MMO had the best 2017? Which title came out of this year with the best updates, the best news, and the best position for the future?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
