Blizzard throws a holiday sale for World of Warcraft, Overwatch, Diablo III, and more

Have a few extra bucks that Santa and his corporate elves haven’t pried from your wallet this month? Blizzard would like to tempt you to pick up one of its titles that are on sale from now through the beginning of January.

World of Warcraft’s base game is just $10, Legion is down to $25, and many of the MMO’s cash shop items are marked down. You can get Overwatch for $20 or the Game of the Year edition for ten bucks more. StarCraft II’s campaign collection is $30, and StarCraft: Remastered is $10.

Over in happy Diablo land, the base game and expansion are going for $20, while its Rise of the Necromancer DLC is down to $10. Finally, Heroes of the Storm’s Foundation bundle is being offered for 2,000 gems.

Really tempted to get D3BC but a price over $20 for that, at this point, isn’t too appealing. Not when I’m playing daily-play games at the moment (taking my time), and getting free games tossed to me from Twitch/Amazon, Uplay/Amazon, Steam. Nuts. So many. In terms of Blizzard, I’m just getting into learning HOTS and trying the SC3 first campaign, and trying Hearthstone stuff like Dungeon runs, so its not like I’m lacking. With D3BC was $20 or less (CAD) but whatever.

their uk store is a bit weird compared to us and maybe eu too. d3 vanilla and reaper are £7.49 each at 50% off. d3 battle chest is £16.99. necro is £8.49. compared to us where it’s $9.99 for vanilla/reaper/necro and $19.99 for battle chest.

it’s been a couple of days since sales started and nothing’s changed for the battle chest or necro yet, so either they don’t know there’s a typo on the prices or someone in the uk store is being intentionally weird with their discounts.

Their newest game has a discount as well as their older games. their entire library has a discount. Blizzard doesn’t control other publishers game prices so…I guess you are out of luck.

Diablo 3 is fun but that RNG system sucks badly and will start to annoy you.

How is Diablo, I played the first one back in the day…haven’t touched it in years. But with a price like that I might check it out.

Path of Exile is superior in every way.

D3 (now) is a great entry in the action rpg genre. Its not like D1 at all though. If you have played any other recent arpgs, then it wont feel foreign. D3 is like most blizzard games, easy enough for a 6 year old to pick up and play, but enough complex mechanics behind the scenes to master.

If you are looking for more complexity than that, look up Path of Exile, otherwise, D3 is great fun in short bursts, and easily something you can come back to over time.

I mean, as a game, D2 is almost certainly better. D3 is okay, and newer, and probably has a better progression and customization system but most of the focus is in seasons, which reset every 3 months. You can get cosmetic rewards from them that are both exclusive and underwhelming.

Path of Exile is completely free to play and quite loyal to the spirit and aesthetic of the original diablo, more than the current blizzard game. If that’s the incarnation of the game you are attached to the most I would sincerely suggest to give it a try.

Diablo 3 is a tad better than it was at launch but it hardly receives support anymore and it’s quite expensive for its age tbh…personally I only played it because it came free with my WoW subscription in the days heh :P

Hmmm thanks you’ve given me something to consider.

The thing with PoE though is it feels like crap to play. It’s an amazing game but the animations and feel of the game are not the same at all sadly.

It is the game in which I have logged the most hours since City of Heroes was taken from us.

That’s a bit earlier than usual for a half price current xpack, although technically the lull has started.

Pity pet/mount sale doesn’t involve the latest one released but that’s to be expected.

WoW? They did it a few months ago – that is when I bit on the game. It was the same sale.
