The Stream Team: Secret World Legend’s Last Train to Cairo

One of the really neat changes Secret World Legends did was incorporate The Last Train to Cairo DLC from The Secret World into the main story mission of Egypt. It is a major piece of the whole puzzle, and getting that info readily is awesome. While working through the story, Massively OP’s MJ has been punching out the bad guys and getting to that spot where she’ll need to hop that train and thwart the evildoing. Tune in live at 9:00 p.m. to see if she helps the world avert another massive disaster.

What: Secret World Legends

I remember doing this the first time and feeling excited about it. But an Exercise in Frustration occurred and I failed it several times and I said screw it! And just yolo’d my way through to get it over with as fast as possible.

The disappointment that was pouring out of MJ over the lack of the whip was real. :P

I think we are still coming up with Indiana Jones names for MJ? :D

I am with Bruno on this one it is bad.

The jumping bit on the train is a matter of luck rather than any skill due to the broken jump mechanics / server performance of the game. Granted it is a little better in SWL but it was truly awful in TSW. What should have been an exciting conclusion ends up being an exercise in frustration instead at least for me personally.

I will say I think the jumping in TSW/SWL is a crime against gaming and I agree with Bryan that the train sequence might be a couple repetitive segments too long, but…

Jumping is mostly an issue when there is an edge involved. 50/50 whether your character jumps or just runs off headlong. And that does not even take into account the complete lack of precision for landing. With the train in SWL, though, the jumps iver those bars seemed to work for me. I only failed the achievement because one of the signal dealies clocked me on the skull.

Maybe I was lucky? I’ll have to run it again to see.

That train is too long and the light post dodging kinda sucks, but overall I really like Last Train. It’s not the moody masterpiece that we got with The Vanishing of Tyler Freeborn, but it’s (mostly) fun. Plus the cutscenes are Said-tastic.

The cutscenes are great. The voiceacting is on point. This mission is literally the peak i had in Egypt.

Which is literally what egypt was: A rich lore-filled, beautiful place, with one one the most annoying gameplay EVER. This mission was literally the peak of all annoyance i’ve been through egypt. The fights are awful, the dodging is…dodgy. The trainrunning is mindnumbingly boring, and the parts where you pretty much need stairs and edges and walking through the sides?

I hate jumping puzzles. This mission was a huge jumping puzzle with combat tacked on.
