Blade & Soul celebrates its second anniversary with a new costume

Congratulations are in order for Blade & Soul as it celebrates its second year of operation, and as is most often the case with these celebrations, most of the presents are going to players. Yes, the game is bringing out an anniversary event, starting with a free package heading out to all players on January 17th. Players can also earn more limited-time rewards like the new Purity Costume via daily dungeon quests and challenges, so you’ll have more to earn after the initial set of gifts.

More improvements are coming to the game alongside the anniversary celebration as well, though; players can take on an updated version of the classic Blackram Supply Chain, use the new costume customization feature, or just take advantage of a simplified and improved premium membership system. It’s still a wee bit away, but come January 17th you’ll be able to look back on two years in the game while looking ahead to more.

Whoops. Sorry I missed this tidbit. It looks like BnS PR is improving as we usually don’t here bubcus from them until the day of said event.

The game was released originally in 2012 but only made it’s way to the west 2016. Such a shame, really because if it had been released here even 2 years earlier it wouldn’t be relegated to a niche market. Nevertheless, it has been a solid two years. Very few complaints from me.

Two notable changes not mentioned. First, for f2p, they are opening up the showroom so everyone playing the game can store outfits and weapon skins in a storage area outside normal inventory. It will be accessible at any time and will minimize inventory issues to a great degree. Again, totally free to all. And much appreciated.

Second login rewards have been added but instead of the usual crap it is in the form of experience charms. XP is a huge deal after cap because you continue to gain HM levels. HM levels mean more Power and Defense. So, xp charms are the ticket to faster progress. And premium member get 3x the number of charms which is huge. This is live now.

As for the rest? Meh. Pretty standard stuff to be honest. The stellar exception being the customization module. HOLY SHINOLA! Take a look at this thing!

Wait…I can make all my outfits pink? O.o

…I also see those Naru coin things being used. So this this all will be coming with a hefty “can’t find ’em, grind ’em” currency…even to change the color of your socks? :(

I also hope this release comes with that nifty house music track sampled. <3

Lol. Yeah, it will cost you something. But, note, it is in game gold or Naryu coins, not some cash shop nonsense.

But, we will see.

Heh. Nice fashion music on this vid. I agree. LOL. Rendermax is all about fashion.

It is hard to tell of they are limiting the color palette. Can’t tell from the vids. But it seems you can customize color too. Either way, pink is not what I would consider an rare blend. So, yeah, I’m going with you can make them pink. And with ruffles if you want. Lol

That what I gathered. Top of the UI for this thing looks to be color selection, while the bottom are pattern options.

The best anniversary gift would be the ability to play the game without all the random frame rate drops that are apparently due to the game’s anti-cheat software. I really do enjoy the game, especially the combat, the design aesthetics of the open-world, and the animation, but random half-second hitches while engaging in PVP or hard PVE fights where timing matters make the game unplayable.

If I limited my enjoyment of the game to cheesecake alone, well, then I suppose new outfits is plenty.

Just did some poking around on the game’s subreddit and my biggest problem may be fixed. Time to go back!

I don’t know about fixed. But greatly improved. Absolutely.

One warning though. DDOS attacks have increased in frequency ever since gold farmers and botters have gotten to boot. It doesn’t happen often, but it does happen and it gets frustrating.

Golly I could swear it launched earlier than that, was it really just two years?

My sense of time passing hasn’t ever been overly precise but this is a first…

It was available in Korea for about 2 yrs. before it moved to NA/EU territories. For a long time, it was anyone’s guess if it would ever actually be available in the west.

Yup. Released in June/July of 2012. The graphics engine has held up remarkably well.

A-ha that’s it. What’s left of my sanity is saved!
