Another rumored New World trailer surfaces with hints about the game’s premise

Amazon’s New World is a game that’s captured quite a bit of rumor and speculation lately, and here’s a fresh video to throw more wood on the rumor pile! It’s difficult to impossible to tell how legit it is, but it certainly does seem to match up with the first promo we saw for the game, so if it’s a hoax, it’s at least a consistent one. And if it’s legit, it’s still not clear whether it’s a leak or a deliberate tease.

The video on Reddit hints at what amounts to an alternate version of colonial America, as filled with superstitions and magic as it is with actual settlers trying to not starve to death and all of that. Hopefully this particular rumor doesn’t end with the game’s page getting yanked and prompting another string of furious concern and anxiety, but there’s no way to be certain of it right now. If you’d like to see what may or may not be a reveal, check out the leak.

It feels like they are trying to go for Minecraft in Colonial America. I don’t like it much, but I guess we just have to wait and see.

More like ‘Life is Colonial’. ;)

I see what you did there, but I think I still like my analogy better. xD

Kind of feels like a survival style game. I’m losing interest fast now.

I think you are getting a little bit ahead of yourself. Just because it mentions player bandits doesn’t immediately mean FFA pvp and full loot.

Additionally, this is Amazon. Creating an experience like FFA PvP doesn’t fit their MO. The team working on this doesn’t have a history of FFA PvP games.

I mean, obviously you’ll think what you want, regardless of what I say. But I think you are catastrophizing what amounts to less than 90 seconds of game art with voice-over.

Well 1+1=2, but we will see what happens. And i am not “catastrophizing” lol, it is not a “catastrophe” if new world sucks, i just won´t play it, that´s all.

There’s a new one from 2 hours ago about crafting, but I haven’t listened to audio for this or either of the other two trailers, so people will have to let me know what it says.

Crafting from New_World_MMO

Heh. Just a little seed. A little bit of coal for the hype train.

So, buzzwords, and concept art. Not much to see, but important in that the words New World are starting to actually mean something.

Still, I have to say that the quality of such a tease is underwhelming. Might as well be a board game at this point, IMO.

So its as close as we will get to a malifaux mmo?

At this point not too interested in Colonial American themed mmo.

Yeah this is a really bad idea.

Launch it on July 4th and with ‘Be a Founding Father of America’ advertising, make a real acting trailer in Jamestown – actually a Colonial America game might be surprisingly easy to market…
