World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth sells physical pre-purchases in Europe

Why would somebody want to pick up a physical box with a digital game code inside of it in 2018? It’s hard to say, really. But for those players, at least the ones in Europe, they can go ahead and pre-purchase World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth from select retailers.

Blizzard is making the pre-purchase for the expansion available in stores and stresses that this does not contain a physical disc (just in case you were trying to head off downloading bandwith or something). Instead, each box holds a code that can be applied to an account that will secure it for the expansion and allow immediate access to a level 110 character boost.

The pre-purchase page lists all of the retailers in their various countries, so if you’re on the prowl for a copy and don’t (or can’t) buy it through the Blizzard online store itself, this is the best way to find the nearest outlet that is selling these.

I was wondering how one buys something that doesn’t exist yet.

I guess they don’t give you the xpac to install.

I would, I have the collectors editions since Cata and i’m too much of a sucker not to get the next one.

Yeah, I saw the boxes in my local Saturn store the other day. I’d already bought it online from Blizz, otherwise I would have bought the box — I like to have the box on a shelf somewhere. (I’m gettin’ old). :D

Well, I’m in my twenties and like boxes. I’ve always liked them. It does feel a little pointless to have a box without a DVD though.

Wait did they half assed this? We wanted to Pre-Order our Collectors Editon Physical and GET everything we normally get in the box at launch but also get to play the content now…. I think Blizzard is a bit blind at understanding this.

The best quick Fix if the user adds collectors key say 90 days after launch they get store credit on blizzstore would make 90% of us just happy…. use that for gametime, etc…

Jesus now I will have to wait till release to play any the new races because of how incompetent they are.

Of course they understand it. Pre-order the box, take the code > do a return. Clerks don’t know or care to check a scratch off or a piece of paper with a code and nor should they. Game companies used to have to deal with this all the time.

Don’t want a fucking code. Just want to play without double paying. We pay a Sub, etc. They could just give us the damn new races without the expansion for example.

Isn’t that one of the things people really want in the States? I hope they offer it.
