WRUP: Viva owls edition

Brianna Royce (@nbrianna, blog): Trovedy Trove Trove. I realized (remembered?) this week that people use mag rider tracks to compose music in their club worlds and now I’m on a music tour, ahhhhhhh. This is ridiculously awesome and how does nobody know about this.

Eliot Lefebvre (@Eliot_Lefebvre, blog): Eh, more Final Fantasy XIV, more Warframe, more World of Warcraft. Chiefly the last one, if I’m being honest, just because I’m fast approaching 110 on my Lightforged.

Justin Olivetti (@Sypster, blog): I’ve made it a personal goal to finish up the extremely lengthy Suramar storyline in World of Warcraft. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to clean out my quest log, but we shall see. Other than that, more leveling in RIFT Prime and perhaps a little Rimworld!

Pierre, patron: This weekend, I will play the game of running 42.195 km (26.219 miles) without dying. OK, I’m well trained, so I will probably survive, but having gone through this challenging race before I will be deeply grateful when I cross the finish line, and completely exhausted too (but satisfied and happy, quite a paradox). Unfortunately, as I have to travel to my sister’s place and she lives on the opposite side of the country, there will be no gaming time for me this weekend. Enjoy your hopefully more restful weekend MOP readers. Cheers!

Your turn!

So. I went to the city with my mom to help her with her knitting stuff. We were looking for some cheap equipment for her, and i decided that i would get some too. Specifically, i wanted some really cheap colored ballpoint pens. Those bags that you buy on cheap stores and they normally don’t work as well, but i was considering buying like 4 bags, anyway.

Bought too of small pens, and went happy to my home. Then i discovered they’re not ballpoints, they’re hydromarkers. The cheap version. I was sad the entire eve.

White pen and pencil on black paper. Did this on the car while going to the city.

Playing Red Flag the Furnace … not as fun as one would think. But Figuring out the menus on my new Fuji is a lot more fun than I imagined.

Eureka is pretty much pointless for me so i’m off FFXIV for now. Chugging away at monhun and getting into the Underground expansion for the Division which dragged me in now division 2 is announced. Tried Destiny 2 and so no other players bar 3 showing off their paid cash shop selfie emote and promptly logged out and uninstalled it again.

Beyond that the new content in Metal Gear Survive is a hoot but that minute to minute fox engine gameplay can’t go wrong. Now i’m getting ready to roll out my painted Shadespire figures to lord it over my none wargaming friends blank plastic models. Happy to be painting again after like 13 years and it just took learning to not care about fucking up to get me improving.

Also i finally caved and picked up Rainbow Six Siege. I shy away from most Ubisoft products because the term ‘ubishit’ exists for a well earned reason at this point but after a solid year of friends gushing a £10 PSN sale was my breaking point to jump in.
Just 60gb’s on country internet running on 70 year old copper cables. i’ll be done next month :p

I made the mistake of watching anime last night. Harlock: Space Pirate on a youtube recommendation. It was so awful.

Go watch Perfect Blue. Its basically if David Lynch made an anime and its the only one i saw used at english universities on film courses to show ‘the perfect thriller’. Its by the late, great Satoshi Kon and its amazing. No moeshit or powerlevels. Just an amazing film doing things with animation the japanese cgi of the time could never do in live action.

I second that. I watched it maybe 20 years ago and was absolutely blown away by such an incredibly mature work coming out of Japan at a time when at the majority of the imports were still just the ultra violent fanservice crap aimed at fifteen year old boys, and Sailor Moon. It’s still culturally very Japanese, so there is a couple “why wouldn’t they just do X” moments that occasionally pop up because Asian and Western cultures have such wildly different perspectives on individuality, but I heartily recommend giving this a viewing.

Buenos tacos, mi amigos! And I mean that. So, I won’t talk about buhos. Es mala surete, me intienden? Instead let me tell you what I’m doing gaming wise. I bet you can guess.

So, I’m in two raiding groups now in BnS, Thursday and Sundays. Tons of fun, but I have to brush up on mechanics and give myself homework. Yes, I’m a nerd.

Sea of Thieves is on deck. Yup. I’ll play. Despite some criticisms of the game, nothing I’ve heard can dissuade me.

I have new content to travel in BnS too. The story is getting good, and I have a score to settle with old Chol Mugo.

And my motorcycles are up and running, so there will be a wee bit of that for sure.

As I depart to run a few dungeons let me leave you this little teaser. Koldrak, the dragon, showed up in Blade & Soul this week. He is event driven so if you aren’t watching carefully he can catch you at the most inopportune times.

In this case, my gunner, Haliee, was just about to step in the shower when old Koldrak reared his ugly head.

For sure playing FFXIV, King of Dragon Pass, No Man’s Sky, Elvenar, Siralim 2, and Pokemon Ultra Moon.
Might also try to get in some combination of Onmyoji, Darkest Dungeon, Dead Maze, Istaria, Project Ascension, Ark, and Stellaris.
I’m also enjoying the hell out of Path of Exiles Bestiary League.

It’s time for my annual attempt to play Dragon Age Inquisition. I don’t know why I do this to myself. It never ends well.
