EverQuest II’s Seeds of Vengeance has launched with a double XP event – go getcher free level 100 toon

Live in EverQuest II today is the long-awaited GU106: Seeds of Vengeance update. As Daybreak’s previously noted, the update includes the new Shard of Hate zone, the item examine window UI revamp, and new expert and expert event versions of some dungeons, plus the new fast travel feature to the Plane of Magic. There’s a big sale on cash shop items through the weekend, as well as a double experience event over the holiday to aid your leveling.

Beginning today, Daybreak has also kicked off a promotion granting “all existing accounts” a freebie level 100 heroic character, complete with a familiar, mercenary, flying mount, and a full set of gear, plus temporary access to the Planes of Prophecy so that you can actually level to 105 and check out the new stuff.

“After June 7th, characters that have leveled above 100 will stay at their current level, but will not be able to level up further unless the Planes of Prophecy expansion is purchased,” Daybreak notes. “Characters in expansion zones will be automatically removed from the area upon zoning in, and you’ll be able to continue your adventures outside the Planes.”

I wouldn’t mind hopping into EQ2 again, but I’m waiting for the Daybreak brouhaha to resolve itself one way or the other before I sink time and/or money into their games.
I guess that’s probably why they’re putting all this out in front of us now.

Giving away high level characters with full gear and mounts etc…So glad I left EQ2 last year.

I LOVE this game and have played it off and on for years. But this game has such a massive problem with ability bloat…there is a reason why WoW prunes skills every couple expansions. EQ2 has NEVER done any type of skill prunes so you literally have FOURTEEN YEARS worth of skills on top of skills on top of skills.

Most people have 50+ buttons on their screen and some of those buttons are macros that have 5 skills in them lol.

I say all that to say if youre brand new to playing EQ2 and you start a level 100 character? GOOD LUCK

For a lot of old school rpg players, thats part of the appeal even as a new player. I want to be overwhelmed with class design. I really hate pruning in any game.

No dude. Sorry. This game gives you more than 50 abilities, most of the overlap with others and could be rearranged/pruned.

There’s no appeal in having a 20 button rotation, you don’t even move for that. Why is that oldschool? Quake was oldschool.

Simplicity is always better, and options. There’s nothing wrong with having 50 abilities when you can CHOOSE your rotations.

I’m loving EQ2, but it’s a fucking mess.

Lack of pruning has to do with lack of resources. Many, MANY abilities are just outright useless at high levels and that was when I quit playing about 2 years ago. The ascension classes only made this worse since they were usually the best abilities of every type. For several years before that they would just pile on new abilities while old ones became less useful to the point of never being used.

Its class design the same way a pile of bricks with a nice roof is architecture.

I so agree with this. Give me my banks of abilities.

How the mighty have fallen. I didn’t even know they had an expansion coming. Also seems pretty badly timed. Dauntless Open Beta, ESO Expansion just launched, and Bless just around the corner.

I remember when a new EQ or EQ2 expansion launching was a huge deal. Seems they get very little fanfare these days – I wasn’t even aware there was an expansion coming until just a few days ago. I guess it could be due to the deluge of MMOs on the market these days that a single one launching an expansion no longer merits much media attention, or maybe I just have to finally accept that EQ and EQ2 are long past their glory days.

Either way, I will probably pick this expansion up and give it a shot. It does look pretty fun.

Honestly this is one my favorite MMORPG’s on the market. I did a series last https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sq2WGyGAubQ Not a lot of views and nothing special but I had a lot of fun with it.

That being said Daybreak was hard to communicate PR wise in fact 100% impossible to contact PR wise when it came to Everquest Franchise. I get better one on one’s with multiple billion dollar gaming companies even when I had a whole 5 viewers on my Youtube account years ago.

It seems that overall if they worked with Youtubers / Streamers more they could bring in a lot more players into the community that is how PR works but sadly they were not interested in it.

But I do recommend the game just try to ignore the Daybreak Drama it’s really nasty and ruins the game fast for you if you get caught up into it.

i just re upped my all access and have been playing a new character from level 1. going through all the old content and live streaming it. its been fun

Awesome. Yeah when I take breaks from games, etc I enjoy streaming or making videos from the start. Most Youtubers tend to show a few raids or end game content now but from the start I love doing and helps bring in some new players too.

This and Champions Online are my mmo’s of choice if i get in the mood to play an mmo. Love how they give out those lvl 100 boost. I have characters either lvl 100 or in the mid 90’s. So i just boost one of them.

You have to roll a new character to get the free-for-everyone level 100 toon.

If you preordered PoP (the new expansion), you will also have a /claim for a free level 100, and that /claim you can use on an existing character to boost it to 100.
