Betawatch: Ashes of Creation gears up for Alpha One (June 8, 2018)

Names are fun! Ashes of Creation has already held an alpha test, but that alpha zero. This upcoming test will be alpha one. And they’re bringing in team members to prepare for it, so it promises to be the most raucous summer party you’ve ever seen! If your definition of “summer party” doesn’t include actual parties.

More beta news? Why not!

Prepare to complete the preparation for completion! Prepare to test games! Prepare to look through our list down below of games which we know are in testing. Something missing or inaccurately labeled? Let us know so we can prepare to fix it! And then do so, presumably.

As always, we consider an MMO to be in open testing if it features free, public signups and will server wipe prior to launch. An MMO is marked in closed testing if it’s running a private test phase that cannot freely be accessed by the general public; it’s usually under NDA as well. Early access and crowdfunded MMOs whose tests we deem legitimate will be included. So-called “open beta” soft-launch MMOs with cash shops, no sign of launch in the west, or limited interest for our readers will not be listed; we also do not list expansions, with occasional exceptions.

A friend and I tried Legends of Aria this week but it became quickly very frustrating for a few reasons . Firstly the lack of a world map , secondly we could not find any kind of social panel so we couldn’t add each other as friends and thirdly we wandered around for ages talking to NPC’s before we found a quest to do .

I know this is an old school mmo but the the game landscapes are so devoid of landmarks that a world map is a must ( or at least having a way of getting one from a vendor or a skill that lets you start mapping the game for yourself ), I don’t know if we missed something but I would have thought given mmo’s are social games then no clear way of adding friend just is a weird design choice and there really needs to be more quest givers ( they don’t have to be marked as quest givers they just need to exist in greater abundance ) .
