ArenaNet is hosting a Guild Wars 10th anniversary contest

Do you fancy yourself a Guild Wars expert? If so, you should enter ArenaNet’s new Guild Wars 10th anniversary contest. There are 10 questions that need answering, and 10 winners will be randomly drawn from the pool of people who submit correct answers to said questions.

ArenaNet hasn’t spelled out the prizes in detail, but a quick scan of the contest rules reveals that “each winner will receive a piece of Guild Wars swag such as a t-shirt or pin, not to exceed $25 USD each.”

Earn this Guild Wars 2 llama by PvPing

How would you like to own the most lavish llama in the lands of Tyria? All you need to do is participate in one of Guild Wars 2’s community-run PvP events. You don’t have to win one of the events, according to ArenaNet’s latest blog post. Placing in the top half of a bracket will “generally” earn you a reward, the firm says, and most of the single-elimination tourneys grant a prize after a single round victory.

As for the llama itself, it’s basically a minipet that features progression and the ability to dance in its final form.

Neverwinter disables promotional codes following exploits

Last week, the Neverwinter team distributed a little bonus code via email to player accounts in celebration of the Elemental Evil update — just a little item that could be used to unlock several different toys in-game. Except that the item in question was not bound to players and could be traded or sold on the auction house, and there were numerous players who exploited the error and created numerous accounts to redeem the code over and over en masse. It was a bit of a mess.

At this point the codes have been disabled, so if you haven’t redeemed yours, don’t do so. While the team still wants to do something to commemorate the launch, this particular celebration has taken on something of a sour note. Player feedback on the forums has ranged from understanding to critical of the poor handling and what some players view as predictable issues.

The Secret World kicks off a powerful weekend early

The Secret World is kicking off a weekend of power early. What makes this weekend worthy of the nickname of “Power Weekend,” exactly? Just the fact that every single thing you do over the weekend in the game results in more. Did you earn a piece of black bullion? You get one more. Earned Marks of Venice? You get 50% more. Recruit a new player into the game? You get another player automatically!

All right, no, you just get a month of free subscription time for that last one. It’s still more stuff for doing what you’d normally do.

You’ll also earn 50% more AEGIS research, making this the perfect weekend to go to town in Tokyo. Just make sure you get in as much as you can before Monday, as the event ends on April 20th.

Star Wars: The Old Republic hosting double XP for Star Wars Celebration

So let’s assume for the purposes of this discussion that you’re a really big fan of Star Wars, but you can’t quite make it out to Anaheim for the Star Wars Celebration convention. Lucky you, there’s a way to celebrate at home: Star Wars: The Old Republic is hosting a double XP even for the duration of the convention, from April 16th until April 19th. It’s not quite the same thing, but you can still be up to your eyeballs in Star Wars while it’s going.

That double XP can be stretched even further with boosts and the like, for the record. A post on Reddit outlines exactly how much experience you can be getting if you make your boosts work together via multiplication, topping out at a 429% bonus. Save up some boosters over the next couple of days if you haven’t already, and get ready for leveling over the weekend.
