The insanely ambitious Ascent: The Space Game may make a new friend or two this week with the space sim arrival on Steam Early Access. Even better for its future growth, the title is 10% off on the platform until March 6th, meaning that you can pick it up for $17.99.
Like most early access titles, Ascent is still missing many features, although the developer claims that there is an overwhelming amount to enjoy in the game already, including mining, harvesting, colonizing, politicking, constructing, and exploring. You can check out the new release trailer after the jump.
Forget the living world; it may be that finally allowing players to zoom into a first-person view will be the most significant event that’s ever happened to Guild Wars 2 — and perhaps the world. OK, maybe that’s a slight exaggeration, but for those of us who have been frustrated trying to take screenshots without a giant noggin in the way, it’s a revelation.
A new dev diary talks about both the first-person camera view as well as the other camera options coming in March. “A new feature we’re excited about is something we’re calling collision sensitivity,” the team posted. “We’ve all been there — you’re running along, happily dispatching ambient rabbits, when suddenly a small tree comes between your camera and your character, causing the camera to snap in very close and completely ruin your immersion. Well, we fixed this!”
Other camera changes include zoom sensitivity, a field of view slider, an update to the position slider, and an option to restore to the default camera settings. The latest episode of Ready Up, which demonstrates the new changes in action, is embedded below.
MassivelyOP’s MJ has done many things in ArcheAge, but one thing she’s never experienced is the Hadir Farm dungeon. In fact, none of the Minions has! It turns out everyone just out-leveled it and never came back. So now MJ’s inviting you along for the Minions’ very first trip down into the depths of this dungeon. What will they find? Possibly death… hopefully riches… but definitely fun!

Black Desert just got a new class called the Blader, which Steparu describes as the “fastest playable character” in the game. Bladers wield a sword — duh — as well as a composite bow, and they’re also able to conjure some sort of spirit weapon called a Tiger Blade, which turns them into a dual-wield class.
Steparu also mentions endless attacks courtesy of delay-canceling skills as well as effective evasion, heavy damage, and a quick dash that instantly closes the distance on targets. Click past the cut to see a clip of the Blader in action.
There’s much to love about The Secret World, as MassivelyOP’s MJ and Justin will both tell you. But why settle for just telling when they can also show you? This duo is teaming up once again to show off one of the best places in game: Savage Coast’s amusement park.

The popular dark universe of Warhammer 40,000 is heading not only to MMOs but to MOBAs as well.
Whitebox Interactive is working on a new title called Dark Nexus Arena that uses the grim setting of 40K to pit teams of four against each other. Players will fight in “the dark city of Commorragh and the gore-filled arenas of the Wych Cults” by taking sides with one of three initial factions: Space Marine, Ork, and Tau.
Early access is scheduled for Q2 2015 with a hopeful 2016 launch. You can watch the teaser video for Dark Nexus Arena after the jump.

Shadowrun Online’s future prospects as a sustainable title have gone up sharply now that the game has found a physical distributor. Cliffhanger Productions signed a deal with Nordic Games for the latter to produce and ship a boxed version of the game. As a bonus, this deal will allow the team time to create French and German versions for launch in addition to the current English edition.
In other Shadowrun news, the Early Access Update 8 patch has arrived with a truckload of improvements, starting with an actual character creation screen. The patch also contains a new real-time hub, improved grouping, gear selection, a clothing screen, better AI, more skills, additional enemies, and a variety of other tweaks. Skyforge wannabe deities, you may want to clear your calendar for early next month because closed beta is coming! The team announced today that the first closed beta test will commence on March 11th with lots of new content, the ability to play never-before-tested classes, and a look at the Orders of Aelion system.
While you can take a chance on getting a spot in the beta via sign-up, you can lock in your place by purchasing one of Skyforge’s new Founder’s Packs. The packs, which range from $20 to $70, include a spot in closed beta tests, early access to the open beta, currency, name reservations, and more.

File this one under things we didn’t see coming: ArenaNet has just announced that it will fulfill a long-running fan request by adding a first-person point-of-view to Guild Wars 2. The new feature goes live on March 10th and will be accompanied by a field-of-view slider, over-the-shoulder vs. vertical position sliders, camera snap collision sensitivity, and camera tracking by character height.
First-person Camera: Zooming in all the way will allow players to experience a first-person view. First-person mode is available while standing in place, walking, running, jumping, playing PvP and just about anything else. There aren’t any restrictions on where first-person can be used.
Field of View: A much requested feature, the field of view slider is a setting that will allow players to adjust how much can be seen in the game world. Players can use a slider to shrink or enlarge the field of view.
announced a “major update
” for War Thunder
this week. The 1.47 Big Guns patch adds the game’s largest tank (the Pz.Kpfw.VIII Maus) and the game’s largest aircraft (the B-29 Superfortress). It also includes an early version of the IL-2 Sturmovik featuring 30 individually modeled parts, which makes for “the most detailed and accurate IL-2 ever recreated in a flight simulator.”
Gaijin says that future War Thunder aircraft will follow the standard set by the new IL-2.
Finally, Big Guns adds 14 new combat vehicles, the Steel Generals ground forces tree, more realistic environmental details and interaction for tank battles, and open cockpits and contrails for most of the game’s aircraft. You can get a glimpse of the patch via the video after the break.
