PSA: ArcheAge triples all the things this weekend

As the ArcheAge population resettles following the massive server merges earlier this month, Trion Worlds has prepared a balm to help sooth any jangled nerves. The studio is triggering a whole host of bonuses over the next several days to give players a boost in their journeys.

Starting today and continuing through Monday, September 25th, ArcheAge is running a “triple everything” event that will multiply experience, vocation, honor, and loot drops over the course of the weekend. Additionally, the studio is running a sale that grants bonus APEX packs if players buy bundles of five or 10 APEX at a time.

ArcheAge is in the middle of its third anniversary event as well, which apparently involves giant corgis.

Classic EverQuest’s 24th expansion, Ring of Scale, is set to launch in December

Are you sad that the original EverQuest is so neglected? If so, you are wrong. It’s not neglected at all. Even if you have zero desire to go jump on one of the game’s progression servers, the game is launching its 24th expansion in December. EverQuest: Ring of Scale will be up for pre-order and beta testing in October, so you only have a little while left before you can start seeing the latest expansion for yourself.

This expansion sends players back to Kunark for new gear, new monsters, new skills, new AA, and more new stuff. Plenty of content for players to plow through as they finish off what was started in the 23rd expansion as the Combine faces its greatest challenge yet. It’s good to see that even years later, new expansions for EverQuest still come out on a regular basis. And that’s not counting plans for more updates to the game’s time-locked progression servers, to boot.

ArcheAge celebrates its third anniversary with giant corgis

It’s hard to believe that ArcheAge has been with us for three years now, but that’s what the game is celebrating with its new anniversary event. Starting today, players can claim  a package for free containing a temporary mount, balloon furniture, ballroom outfits, and other goodies. Players can also take care of Amary’s giant corgi named Kirby, petting and comforting the enormous dog to earn coins for prize capsules with all sorts of fun goodies inside.

Players can also take part in the third annual Shadowguard Festival, which has a quest tying it in to celebrating with Kirby if you’re so inclined. There’s also a discount for listing items on the auction house, so you get to sell things with larger profit margins. Check out the event page for all of the awards you can pick up, and get ready to celebrate history through October 18th.

Massively OP met with ArcheAge’s Seraphina Brennan at PAX earlier this month with a full report on the anniversary and the upcoming update, so make sure to check that out too!

PAX West 2017: ArcheAge’s Corgi Conundrum, anniversary update, and the 4.0 expansion

Nothing may quite compare to last week’s big server evolution in scope of change for ArcheAge, but there are more changes coming over the next couple of months. The good news is one of those involves corgis! Who doesn’t love corgis?

At this year’s PAX West, I talked with Trion Associate Producer Seraphina Brennan – whom many of you will remember as a former Massively writer from many years ago when we were under AOL! – about ArcheAge’s third anniversary this month, the remainder of the 3.7 update with its lunagem overhaul, and the release of expansion 4.0 with its new ship, cross-server arenas, improved crafting UI and tutorials, and currency conversion. Let’s dig in!

The Stream Team: A look at life after the big ArcheAge server merges + giveaway

It finally happened: Massively OP’s MJ was uprooted from her ArcheAge server of over three years and tossed onto a new world with a number of other servers’ refugees. She pointedly ignored the big land rush; losing her homes was quite a blow. In fact, losing her homes is the one thing that may keep her from regular play from here on out. Has this move improved things? How populated do things look now? Tune in live at 8:00 p.m. for a look at the post-Evolution landscape (and a chance to win a Trion code for loot in all the games, including Midnight Kitsu in ArcheAge).

ArcheAge recovers from server merges, re-activates housing

In the tumultuous annals of ArcheAge, this month’s server merge might be remembered most for… being pretty smooth, overall. As the team brought the new servers online, players noted that things weren’t quite as bad as expected. Kind of the opposite, in fact.

Trion Worlds did hold off on unlocking housing for a time while it worked out a few kinks with missing items that didn’t make the server jump. As of this writing, both North American and European realms have seen their housing restrictions unlocked, opening up the new realms for colonization.

The team said that it’s working on fixing some other problems: “There are also issues we’re still working on, such as not being able to move after being kicked by the AFK timer, your average guild gearscore dropping whenever a new member is added, and disappearing UCCs on Eanna.”

ArcheAge goes offline for two days for massive server merges, land rush scheduled for Friday

We warned you about it back in July, and now it’s here. ArcheAge is merging (er, “evolving”) a dozen of its underpopulated servers down to four. This intensive process starts today and will require two days of downtime (even for unaffected shards) before the MMO comes back online September 9th.

When the game comes back up on Friday, these four servers will no doubt be the focus of an intense land rush as players and guilds seek to reestablish their claims. Trion Worlds said that it will gradually turn the shards back online one at a time and enable AFK kicking to keep things from getting too nuts.

You can check out the new server list for ArcheAge after the break!

Gamescom 2017: ArcheAge 4.0 ports naval warfare westward this year

Trion is on a roll at a Gamescom this week: It’s brought ArcheAge 4.0 to the party.

“Slated for release in North America and Europe later this year, ArcheAge 4.0 will include new features intended to make the game more accessible than ever before,” Trion says in its press release. What features? Oh, nothing much… just a 20-man ocean battleground for your multi-person navy ships, an open-world raid finder tool, a less annoying gem system, and a huge overhaul for crafting, including a new crafting UI and crafting quests. Maybe not a huge surprise if you’ve been following the game overseas, but great news for the west nevertheless. Check out the content outline and new trailer, and stay tuned for our report from PAX next week, when we’ll be meeting with the Trion team in person!

Massively Overthinking: Gathering our thoughts on Guild Wars 2’s Path of Fire

This week, the dominant story has become Guild Wars 2’s Path of Fire expansion, which is coming our way far sooner than a lot of folks had guessed. For this edition of Massively Overthinking, I’ve touched base with some of our writers to measure their reactions to the big announcement, asking them to gauge what’s in it, whether it was worth the wait, what they’re disappointed about, what they think of the pricing, and whether they’ve felt sufficiently enticed to play. Let’s dig in!
