Gamevil’s mobile spinoff of ArcheAge, ArcheAge Begins, pumped out its fourth content update this past week. The focus this time around was the debut of the Regional Championship, a 4v4 PvP arena.
By participating in the championship, players can fight cross-server as they claw, blast, and power their way to the top of the rankings. This championship is an evolution of the established annihilation mode.
Right now, Gamevil is running a pre-season event with prizes for the server that places first from now through February 19th. All players on the winning server will receive 1,000 gems and an ancient rune selection ticket regardless of participation.

The MMO industry moves along at the speed of information, and sometimes we’re deluged with so much news here at Massively Overpowered that some of it gets backlogged. That’s why there’s The MOP Up: a weekly compilation of smaller MMO stories and videos that you won’t want to miss. Seen any good MMO news? Hit us up through our tips line!
Maybe you’ll discover a new game in this space — or be reminded of an old favorite! This week we have stories and videos from Outer Stories of Wulin, ArcheAge Begins, The Black Death, Wakfu, Dark Age of Camelot, RuneScape, Pokemon Go, SMITE, Heroes of the Storm, Overwatch, Battlerite, Ragnarok Rush, Wild Busters, Final Fantasy XI, and Twin Saga, all waiting for you after the break!
Have you tried the mobile revolution that is ArcheAge Begins yet? Don’t worry, we haven’t either, although it does look like a heap of eye candy in the palm of your hand.
Gamevil isn’t neglecting its new property, releasing the game’s first major update this past week. This patch contains a new guild vs. guild territory battle system, the first evolutionary hero, additional costumes, more guides, and an increase in the membership cap for guilds (which now goes up to 50).
In addition to the update, the team has also activated a “surprise” login reward campaign that is running through November 26th. It looks like there is something different to be claimed every day from now until then, so be diligent in grabbing those freebies!
Welcome back to another quick tour through the very latest in mobile MMORPG news. Let’s begin at the beginning with…
Yep, the GAMEVIL-produced mobile spinoff of this core sandbox MMORPG has released on both iOS and Android worldwide, with 100K players having signed up for pre-registration. “Developed with Unreal Engine 4, ArcheAge Begins features impressive-looking character models and environments, intense strategic battles and engrossing online multiplayer features,” GAMEVIL says. (Thanks, Jason!)
Sorry, we couldn’t resist that intentionally confusing headline! Anyway, for those interested in checking out the mobile spin-off of ArcheAge, your time is now.
Pre-registrations have started for ArcheAge Begins in preparation for the game’s debut on mobile platforms next month. There is incentive to get you to sign up for the game: You can get gems, gold, stamina, and universal pieces (whatever those are, they’re universal) if you submit your email now.
According to the description, ArcheAge Begins’ “primary gameplay mode will give players the chance to exercise strategic expertise; players will need to form teams of four unique heroes and use the ‘card-flipping’ battle system to conquer challenges and unravel the story. ArcheAge Begins will also have compelling multiplayer features including in-game commerce and guild battles.”
If you’re on the fence about this, check out the short cinematic trailer below and see if that sways your mind.
Need a little of that ArcheAge magic on the go? You won’t have to wait long; starting next month, Gamevil is going to roll out the mobile version of the MMORPG to players worldwide.
ArcheAge Begins is slated to hit the Apple Store and Google Play on October 25th, offering a different take on the established (and ever-so-controversial) sandbox. Developed with XLGAMES’ help, ArcheAge Begins gives players the choice of 30 heroes and has them battle their way through the world using a “flip card” system. There’s also PvP because why wouldn’t there be?
The main claim to fame here, other than the relation to ArcheAge, is the mobile’s advanced graphics, which are rendered in the Unreal Engine 4. Gamevil is specifically targeting the North American and European markets, saying that these regions showed a “high participation rate” in the game’s testing.
It looks as if most of the official discussion and reveals for the mobile MMO are being posted on Facebook. Check out the trailer and gameplay after the break!
ArcheAge Begins’ title is never going to be as appropriate as it is right now. Gamevil’s spin-off of XLGAMES’ well-known MMO sandbox has just kicked off its first global closed beta test and is looking for a few players to give the game a test drive.
The closed beta test is a fairly short one, running from now through July 3rd. ArcheAge Begins is looking at a Q3 2017 release on mobile, so it looks as thought the testing process is ramping up to make way for the launch. The game uses the Unreal 4 engine and contains many features from the MMO, including raiding, fishing, and trading, although it is obviously not the same product.
Right now the beta is for Android players only, so if this is you and you have interest in the game, you can sign up for the program through Google Play.
We’ve been keeping an ear to the ground on XLGAMES
‘ second attempt at an ArcheAge
mobile game. Last year, the Korean studio announced it was tapping Unreal Engine 4 and Gamevil
for that game. Now we know it’s called ArcheAge Begins
and will land in some form next month. Signups for news
(and maybe more?) are already open, and there’s a new trailer tucked below too.
