Betawatch: Secret World Legends opens the beta doors (June 9, 2017)

If you’re an active player of The Secret World, you can get into the Secret World Legends beta at this point. Really, you can! The NDA is still in full effect, though, so this is different from the game’s headstart kicking off on June 23rd. You can also catch up on the current state of the various weapons, and take a look at both parts of MJ’s impressions about the title.

There was, of course, other beta news. How could we avoid it? The world is always in motion.

The fact that we have a whole bunch of games down below, though? That’s not a rumor. That’s a fact. There’s a list right down there, and if something has slipped into a new test phase without us noticing, we trust you to tell us. We also trust you to tell us about betas you’re enjoying. We trust you with lots of stuff.

EverEmber returns as a much larger MMOARPG

Chances are that there is probably no one among our readers who remembers EverEmber Online, a retro-themed MMO that released at the end of 2015 and was swallowed up into a black hole of disinterest following that. Apparently the game’s launch was a letdown to its developers as well, which is why they pulled the plug and decided to start over by making EverEmber Reborn.

EverEmber Reborn is a 3-D MMOARPG that’s currently in development by a small dev team and will purportedly offer a free-form open world experience for those brave enough to traverse the game’s hardcore lands. It is not a sequel or a remake of EverEmber Online but another game set in the same universe.

Retro-themed EverEmber Online launches today

Just because an MMO is launching in 2015 doesn’t mean that it is necessarily some ultra-gorgeous, physics engine-happy affair. Sometimes games look to the past rather than the present for inspiration, which is where we find EverEmber Online as it releases today.

Looking as though it would be perfectly at home on the Super Nintendo, EverEmber Online combines old-school looks and a hefty dose of charm. This MMO presents players with an open-ended sandbox with no guided quests. “If you are in the mood for an old school MMORPG similar to that of RuneScape and Ultima Online, then this is your type of game!” the team posted. “You are free to travel around, explore, fight, meet new people, and progress through the ranks.”

The developers said that the launch will coincide with the start of an in-game holiday event.
