MU Legend kicks off second CBT while MU Origin opens a PvP server arena

Webzen's been quite busy building its expanded MU universe up in its bedroom while its mom keeps calling it down to dinner. "Not now, Mom, I've got a beta test to roll out!" floats down the stairs.

Indeed, the second closed beta test for MU Online's sequel, MU Legend, revved up today. The CBT will run from February 21st through the 28th and includes several new localization languages, including French, German, Brazilian-Portuguese, Spanish, and Polish. Over 200,000 players pre-registered to be part of the first closed beta, and any of those that participate in CBT2 will find that their character data has not been wiped.

Meanwhile, Webzen's mobile spin-off, MU Origin, is getting busy with its 1.6 update. This patch opens up a PvP server arena, expands the journal, introduces the Guardian Soul, and adds more character progression with Muren's Book and a specialty system. Check out trailers for both after the break!

Mu Legend kicks off its global closed beta test today

Do you know Mu? Not every MMO player is familiar with the eastern Mu franchise, but it is apparently popular enough to spawn a line of titles (such as Mu Origin). One of these, Mu Legend, is heading into its first global closed beta test today.

Mu Legend is a hack-and-slash sequel to Mu Online and features gameplay similar to that found in online action-RPGs. The beta test is scheduled to run from today through November 8th. As it is a closed beta, you will have to apply for and hope to get a key to participate.

Webzen also used the global CBT as an opportunity to open up the official Mu Legend forums, so if nothing else, you can practice your lurking skills there. Alternatively, there is a nearly eight-minute gameplay trailer waiting after the jump to help provide a deeper understanding what this game is all about (frantic clicking and bright spell effects).

No doubt you've already added that to your calendar, but if for some reason you were holding off due to a lack of context, perhaps today's gameplay trailer might help provide motivation.

The 30-second spot offers a tantalizing glimpse into the fast-and-furious isometric action of this title. Gentle jabbing aside, Mu Legend might hit the spot if you're looking for a good ARPG clicker. You can watch the trailer after the jump and then, if you're interested, sign up for the beta on the website.
