Have you checked out MU Legend’s open beta yet? Apparently you’re in a quickly dwindling group. MU Legend heads into soft launch today

Today’s a big day for MU Legend as it moves from the official realm of testing to the realm of launch. Sure, the game is calling today its open beta, but there will be no further wipes before the official launch and everyone can jump in right now. Plus, you can spend money on the game. So that’s a soft launch, and we’d like to welcome the title to launchville.

It’s a real place. We promise.

More new features like a 3v3 combat mode are slated to arrive in the game before the end of the year, and further features like territory wars are on the docket as well (although considering how much of the year is left, you will probably need to wait until 2018 for that). Check out the open beta trailer just below, or if you’re at home (or in a particularly relaxed workplace) you can just download the game and start playing. And then check back this afternoon, as we’ll be streaming the game on OPTV!

Mobile MMO Roundup: Flyff Legacy, Ragnarok Journey, MU Legend, Project B, and Archlord Awake

Whether it makes you want to seek shelter or embrace the winds of change, the era of mobile MMOs and spin-offs is upon us. Let’s check in with what’s going on with three of them today!

Flyff Legacy, a successor to the cute online RPG, launched on September 26th for iOS and Android. In this flying-empowered MMO, players can take on the role of a Mercenary, Acrobat, or Magician and learn how to zoom around on a broom, conquer dungeons, collect pets, fight other players, and enjoy the “whimsical style” that is a hallmark of the series.

Another recent launch was Ragnarok Journey, the latest in the long-running Ragnarok Online series. The gameplay should be familiar to Ragnarok veterans, although the studio said that this version has upgraded graphics and offers a “fresh experience.” Players who jump into the launch period will be given a gift pack with a few helpful goodies to send them on their way.

MU Legend’s new site, stress test, and open beta date

After a delay or two, MU Legend is confirmed to be coming our way this fall: November 7th, to be exact. The hack-and-slash MMO sequel finally “committed” to an open beta test release date this week now that quality assurance and localization has been wrangled.

You won’t have to wait until then to get a taste of what MU Legend has to offer, however. Webzen is planning a stress test for this Saturday, September 23rd. The team hopes that by jamming a ton of people into the game, it can generate enough “precious technical data” to help with the OBT launch.

The studio even makes this test sound somewhat awesome: “We cannot adequately test all worst-case scenarios virtually, so we will need the cooperation of our fans to push our server to breaking point.”

There’s a new official website to check out while you’re waiting, and you can also watch the stress test trailer after the break!

Mu Legend delays open beta from September to November

Those who are eagerly awaiting the open beta test for MU Legend got hit with some bad news with the announcement that the game’s open testing/soft launch is being delayed from September until November. The announcement explains that while the closed beta version was ready to go, the current live version in Korea has already gotten feedback from players and brought certain vital issues to light, leading to the conclusion that the release roadmap needs adjustment and refinement to produce the best possible version of the game.

Could the team just release the current beta version? Technically, yes, but you never get a second chance to make a first impression, and between testing, balancing, and localization, it would result in a sub-par rollout for the title. Instead, everyone is just going to have to wait for a couple more months before the open testing period commences. We’re sure you’ll manage all right just the same, though; it’s only a little more time to wait.

MU Legend hits open beta in September

Open beta: the magical time when a game is available for everyone to play at all times. Mu Legend has flitting through closed beta for a while, but it’s almost time for it to spread its (metaphorical) wings and fly free with the open beta launch coming at some point September. An exact point in September has not yet been announced, but it’ll be sometime in September.

The good news is that open beta will also include new and as-yet unseen features for the game, so even if you’ve been comfortably playing in the game’s closed beta, you’ll have new stuff to explore. The localized version will be available in English, Brazilian Portugese, French, German, Spanish, and Polish, so you’ll have your pick of different words to read; the gameplay will be the same no matter what, but language does help you understand what the heck is going on when September rolls around.

Mu Legend will soft launch across the globe with an open beta summer 2017

Webzen formally announced this morning that the global edition of Mu Legend — i.e., the version of the hack-n-slash sequel our readers are most likely to care about — will hit open beta in what looks to be a soft launch this summer for all regions, excepting South Korea, of course, where the game has already launched.

The studio says that “the last remaining months of development will be dedicated to the fine-tuning of the new features added to the open beta, such as the trading NPC, the 3v3 PvP mode and more.” In response to players complaining about the length of the testing period, Webzen’s Facebook rep said, “We think it’s better to take time than rush. The first closed beta was only starting 5 months ago. We’ll make sure players don’t wait too long. More news in the coming weeks.”

You can indeed still sign up for the beta on the official site, though it’s not yet clear whether there will be another closed round of testing between now and the open beta.

MU Legend kicks off second CBT while MU Origin opens a PvP server arena

Webzen’s been quite busy building its expanded MU universe up in its bedroom while its mom keeps calling it down to dinner. “Not now, Mom, I’ve got a beta test to roll out!” floats down the stairs.

Indeed, the second closed beta test for MU Online’s sequel, MU Legend, revved up today. The CBT will run from February 21st through the 28th and includes several new localization languages, including French, German, Brazilian-Portuguese, Spanish, and Polish. Over 200,000 players pre-registered to be part of the first closed beta, and any of those that participate in CBT2 will find that their character data has not been wiped.

Meanwhile, Webzen’s mobile spin-off, MU Origin, is getting busy with its 1.6 update. This patch opens up a PvP server arena, expands the journal, introduces the Guardian Soul, and adds more character progression with Muren’s Book and a specialty system. Check out trailers for both after the break!
