The MOP Up: Final Fantasy XI expands its wardrobe (July 3, 2016)

The MMO industry moves along at the speed of information, and sometimes we’re deluged with so much news here at Massively Overpowered that some of it gets backlogged. That’s why there’s The MOP Up: a weekly compilation of smaller MMO stories and videos that you won’t want to miss. Seen any good MMO news? Hit us up through our tips line!

We’ve got plenty of other news tidbits for you after the jump, including patches, MMOs in testing, videos, and more!

Rappelz players will undergo 'the final awakening' next month

MMO characters are always growing, evolving, and looting corpses for ever-better gear. But where's the end goal with such a project? When does a character go, "I'm as buff as I'll ever be and I'm totally fine with that?" This will perhaps occur only after a monumental awakening, ascension, or some sort of endgame transformation.

Rappelz will be introducing such a mechanic with next month's Epic 9.3 patch. By adventuring through a quest line and tackling a new dungeon, Remains of the Ancients, gamers can undergo a the final awakening "that boosts players' skills like never before."

Epic 9.3 will arrive on February 2nd and include the new dungeon, awakening system, additional monsters, and more.
