February’s a short month, so it’s easy to not expect much out of it. The team behind Final Fantasy XI is still bringing new content for the month just the same with the February Version Update planned for February 19th. Headlining the update is a new Alluvion Skirmish in the Yorcia Weald wherein players summon monsters to help assault an enemy stronghold. The new skirmishes reward new armor and improved forms of the older weapons.

Players can also look forward to further improvements to job point categories and new gifts for each job. For those who don’t feel like investing too deeply in combat for this update, there will also be new quests, improvements to the Mog Garden, and quality-of-life boosts. You can get a decent picture of what’s coming with the update by checking out the official trailer just past the break.

This game…/sigh.  It’s AWESOME until you hit the leveling and Artifact Armor walls at around 50+.  I quit recently(again) due to hitting the AF2 wall on my Thief.  Was having a blast up to that point but trying to get help to do the other stuff and having to slog through a large wall of xp to level up and then have to go get some extremely tough to find/get items for the limit break quests, yeah….it just wasn’t worth plowing through it.  Now, if those quality of life changes come about I’ll happily hop back in and continue subbing, but for now, I’m guessing this won’t ever happen so I’ve deigned to watch from afar as one of the most atmospheric and immersive MMOs I’ve played dwindles into the sunset for me.  /cry

Dope_Danny FireBomberSeven I wish they made permanent that short-lived deal where if you subbed to XIV, you got 50% off XI, but it was only for 3 months during the troubles of XIV 1.0, sigh…

Both games for $20-22 I can live with

Just started back myself a few weeks ago. Me and a friend have been going through the original storylines with Trust NPCs and buying our gear with Sparks, it’s almost like a coop FF game at this point. Having a blast though.

FireBomberSeven I love XI and its a shame theres no option to access both XI and XIV with some form of sub rather than almost 30 for both but unfortunately XI is also kind of a ghost town which makes picking one over the other much easier when Limsa Lominsa has more people nowadays than any mmo city ive seen since vanilla ironforge in wow.

I had no idea FF11 still had this much support and was still active. If I weren’t already paying a monthly fee for FF14 I’d consider jumping back in, if there is still an active population. Would be nice if Square combined the subs or something, like SOE did with their all-access subscription.

I love this game. Haven’t been back in a while but it is still beautiful and the support and development it still gets is fantastic. I wish all older games got this much support.
