Whee!
Perfect World has announced that Neverwinter is coming to the Xbox One on March 31st. The launch will feature all of the content from the PC version including classes like the Scourge Warlock and the Tyranny of Dragons expansion.

Neverwinter on Xbox One brings a full-fledged roleplaying experience with a living social world allowing players to experience Dungeons & Dragons adventures with their friends,” says PWE’s press release. “Neverwinter on Xbox One will also utilize console features including friends list integration and optimized controls to easily transition the MMORPG experience from PC to console.”

Yep any MMO with action oriented combat is a natural fit for the console. Tab targeting relics of the past like WoW wouldn’t work well. Although, I haven’t played FFXIV on the PS4 yet so maybe it isn’t as bad as I’m thinking.

I think this is kind of a big deal, and it signifies that this generation of console is ready for MMOs, previously, not so much.

It’s a good casual game, but I just cannot commit to a game that basically forces you to RNG + cash shop for max tier enchants. Also the gated quests / campaigns… sigh.

Hey that’s cool. I always welcome more MMO’s on consoles (I play primarily on PC, before i’m accused of anything). I can always play it now if I want, but for some reason I feel more inclined to give it another go firing it up on a console. Too bad it’s not for PS4.

Neverwinter is one of those games I keep forgetting exists — even though I was an early adopter, and played substantially at launch — I suppose this sounds even more damning than I mean it to sound?

It’s not a terribly bad game, I just found I didn’t care about it. It didn’t leave any sort of lasting impression. I suppose, in the MMORPG world, gamer indifference is an even worse fate than gamer hatred? I don’t pretend to know, but at least hatred means someone’s spending some thought and emotion on your product?

I’m only wondering aloud (in print) here, not attacking Neverwinter. The fact that I can completely forget a recent game I bought and played (with friends, no less) baffles me on some level.

Would be nice if the same controller optimizations are put into the PC version as well.  Also bring the game to PS4.

Nonsensicles
It’s already been said at E3 that while Neverwinter will come to the Xbone first, it will be coming to PS4 at a later date yet to be announced. So it is coming to PS4 for sure. This isn’t an Xbone exclusive, which would be flat out dumb on PWE’s part because the Playstation has outsold the Xbox by huge amounts in the Asian markets, which is where PWE makes most of its money.

djnesh Lord Mironia Nonsensicles Precisely! Any MMO that decides to leave the newest generation of consoles alone (especially the PS4) is losing out on tons of money.

Lord Mironia Nonsensicles IIRC FFXIV got nice big (100k+?) chunk of players when they released on PS4 last year.
