TERA dungeon triggers player controversy

A new TERA dungeon named Ghillieglade has raised the ire of European players who discovered that the “extremely easy” instance delivers incredible rewards with minimal effort. So what’s the controversy? The problem is that the dungeon is primarily accessible to paying members with free-to-play gamers being limited to a once-a-week run (and that only after running 20 related quests).

North American players worried that they will be dealing with the alleged play-to-win design can sleep easier knowing that En Masse will be making adjustments when it arrives in the region. Of significant note is that all players will be able to run Ghillieglade at least twice a day and that some of the premium rewards, such as crafting mats, have been changed or eliminated.

Wow, after all this time and the Europeans are still getting screwed by their publisher. +10 Internets to En Masse, but good grief.

ArtemisiaWS Nicolos Says the person using the word “otherway”?
I don’t disagree with you, just pointing out the irony.

p_mersault deganderson Thank you for helping out. I did pretty much everything they said, starting it from the prompt with /window to see the progress and plenty of other things they told me. It keeps ending up in errors and everytime you start it again it checks the whole download for minutes on end. I have a job already and installing games isn’t it ;)
I gave up on it, I have 6 other mmo’s installed without any problems. I moved on to the secret world. I will stay clear of the free to play games from now on tbh, its always the same, retooled low quality games with horrid monetization schemes like lockboxes and the example in the article above. If I want to gamble, I go to a casino and if I want to queue for rides, I go to disney world.

deganderson This is EU, right? Just keep it on, it’s more than likely still updating without showing progress. It takes forever, i can tell you. I found a tutorial on how you are able to see the progress, but can’t find it anymore, sorry. Once i applied it, i saw it was still working on….something.

The other suggestion would be to restart the launcher every time it gets stuck (though you would have to do it quite often).

I tried to install this twice now. First it downloads 50 gig or something and then it keeps hanging on zero percent while patching. The suggestions that I got from the helpdesk are just bizarre so I gave up on it. I will never know how the game is but judging it by their incompetence to even make an installer work, it can’t be much. Seeing this news makes me glad that I deleted the turd.

Nicolos Always this bullshit about supporting them, they aren’t the red cross you know? It a commercial company trying to make its shareholders rich. You don’t need to support them. They need to make a product that is attractive enough so that people pay for it. If people only want to “leach” then its the companies fault, not the leechers.
Are you going to buy a crap looking car to “support” the company who makes it? We are consumers as in consuming, not supporting.

Denice J Cook Gameforge is also charging subscribers for tickets to enter the dungeon more than once a day. The maximum is 3 times a day, but subscribers get access only 1 time a day.

Cash shop whales spend more than basic subscribers. But, should that entitle them to benefits like these? I’m just curious where you’d draw the line.

My apologies, grammar officer. However you apparently got the point of which still stands. People that pay nothing to support the game have little leg to stand on when it comes what is given to them.

Zsokorad All of these corporate MMOs do that though.
