Call of Champions

Does the world need another MOBA? We’re going to find out, as Spacetime Studios is the latest game developer to hop on the bandwagon. The mobile studio responsible for MMOlikes Arcane Legends and Pocket Legends, has announced Call of Champions, a 3-on-3 MOBA with five-minute game sessions.

Touch Arcade reports that Call of Champions is attempting to pare down MOBA mechanics into “bite-size” portions minus minions, jungles, and cash shops. Click past the cut for a teaser trailer.

Is this similar to Bloodline Champions?

AdeptusEnginus Skyewauker Rheem Octuris We weren’t talking about abilities.  We were talking about looks.  When it comes to looks, yes, its an exact carbon copy.  Period.

And the last time I checked, there was a stun / paralyze spell in FF.  There is a “fireball” or whatever nuke his Q and E is.  You cannot say that Riot came up with many concepts for characters on their own.

3v3 MOBA, with no creeps, on mobile and pc. This looks almost exactly like Solstice Arena from Zynga lol

Skyewauker Rheem Octuris …uh, no. No, no uh. No….no, definitely not, no.

A Final Fantasy Black Mage has never been in a MOBA, there is literally nothing for Veigar to be a carbon copy of. Yes, Veigar is very blatantly inspired by the Black Mage, they’ve never tried to hide this; hell, one of his skins back in vanilla (I don’t know if it’s still available, not playing LoL these days) changed his colour scheme to that of a FF White Mage, complete with the red decals on the bottom of the robe.
But a Carbon Copy? Last I checked, in no Final Fantasy game did the Black Mage have things like a circular gate that stunned enemies that walked through it or an ability that did extra damage based specifically off the target’s magical power. Veigar is inspired by Black Mage in style, and that is it. He is far from a “Carbon copy.” Twisted Fate isn’t either for that matter, I have no idea where you’re getting that one.

Riot is very big on lifting inspiration from a large myriad of sources; hell, I could list a few blatant ones you missed: Shen, whose (visual) design is clearly based off Scorpion from Mortal Kombat. Nautilus is clearly inspired by the Big Daddy from Bioshock 1 & 2, and Talon is very obviously based off the Assassins from Assassin’s Creed. None of them, however, are “carbon copies”…not even close.

Rheem Octuris Skyewauker Veigar is a DIRECT rip off of the Final Fantasy black mage.  So is Twisted Fate.  There is no inspiration lol.  Those are carbon copies.

Skyewauker Rheem Octuris  Those are all technically true, but that’s not what I mean. All those are INSPIRED by, not copies of.

The ones in the header image looks like direct copies of Kalye, Trundle, and Maokai.

Rheem Octuris Everything is a rip off of everything.  There is nothing original anymore.  When it comes to a game like this , how many things havent been done?  Just off the top of my head.

Twisted Fate : Gambit from X-Men
Pantheon : 300 Spartan
Zed : Ninja Gaiden
Blitz : Pudge
Vlad : Kael’thas
Veigar : Black Mage Rip off from Final Fantasy

I could go on and on and on

How can you make a ‘bite sized’ version of a game genre that’s already a stunted, simplified version of another genre?
