The Stream Team: Touring Qeynos in Landmark

11

Who says Landmark isn’t very EverQuest-y? In fact, a stroll through the sandbox right now will yield quite the assortment of Qeynos buildings thanks to the latest building theme. Join MassivelyOP’s MJ as she tours houses, towers, blacksmith shops, and more — all with a Qeynosian flair that would fit right into Norrath.

Don’t touch that dial! OPTV‘s infamous Stream Team is live at 7:00 p.m.!

What: Landmark
Who: MJ Guthrie
When: 7:00 p.m. EST on Wednesday, February 25th, 2015

Enjoy the show!

The show is over now, but we’ve embedded it here just for you. Don’t forget to check out our past streams too!

WildarX Hmm I was much like this when I started, I found that checking out other people’s builds, surfing the net for cool stuff then trying my hand at building some weird shapes helped a lot. I am rally happy with I am able to create now

Ironwu You really are wrong about this, I had to read your post several times to ensure i read it correctly. The Landmark world is one of the most beautiful I have ever played in and it is not even near completion yet.

Ironwu You couldn’t be more wrong.  When you play Landmark the 64bit game engine is a powerhouse.  You are not factoring in the destructible environment either.   And the oceans are the prettiest water yet seen in any MMO.   The graphics, lighting, 3D engine, everything, significantly more powerful than the aging EQ2 engine, which has scaled well, but runs horribly, even on fast, modern hardware.

Hmm.  Sorry to rain on the fan parade, but I don’t see how the graphics here are any better than what are currently in EQ1 at the moment.  And certainly not up to EQ2 standards.  I purchased landmark when it was first available, and have been underwhelmed ever since.  Based on current population levels in the game, something needs to change, and in a major way, or Landmark is just going to fade away.
I actually think it is on the block anyway with SOE shutting down; there is just not enough ‘game’ here for mainstream MMO players.

All in all, EQLM is fun, but I really suck at constructing things.  Everything I make just turns into a giant box.

I’m not going to play this but that doesn’t mean I don’t respect the hell out of how fantastic it works! This is minecraft on some major steroids. I could see EQL blowing up bigger than H1 or N if they find their audience.

Thanks MJ, an interesting stream as always.

The building construction aspect of Landmark is clearly impressive, but I’m still left wondering what sort of a game is going to emerge from it all so far as EQN is concerned.

Nice job, MJ; cool architecture there!  I can’t help but wonder if Landmark will just get compressed into EQNext completely and then done away with, though.
