Crowfall explains what you can take out of a dying world

By now, most of you know that Crowfall’s PvP campaigns will take place on time-limited worlds that will come to a definite end. But what happens to a player’s hard-won loot when the campaign is over?

A new Kickstarter update from the team explains how export rules function. During a campaign, players will make deposits of gear and goods in an account bank. Those items will be untouchable until the campaign is over, at which point the player will receive a portion of his or her loot based on how the player’s faction did. The longer the campaign, the larger the vault; the more difficult the campaign, the greater the potential payout.

As of the time of this writing, Crowfall has passed $959,000 in crowdfunding donations. The first stretch goal, at $1 million, will include female centaurs and enhanced particle effects. We’ve got a video of one of Crowfall’s artists creating the Knight poster as well as a preview of the centaur animations after the jump.

dustyartifact Probably will. It doesn’t look like the type of game you play for the “story”, and I imagine it will pull in the crowd who like MOBAs but wish they had a little more RPG depth.

AIE_Velinos Also, there will be more than 1 battleground. Not all of them will be guild based. Some faction based, some free for all. From what I’ve read, their connection to EvE Online seems mostly in skill acquisition. If you subscribe, you can gain skills while not playing. Still working out how “Game of Thrones” ties in, too…

I hope “enhanced particle effects” doesn’t mean glowie everything.

Estranged goldstariv Implications and your own personal deductions, are exactly that. Your own. Also, putting money to good use does not always equal scam. I totally believe that this game will eventually see the light of day, however, do I wish it would come sooner? Sure.

Do I wish I could throw money at it and make it grow faster? Sure do, but is it realistic? Probably not. Never thought of it as a scam, just wishful thinking for projects all over Kickstarter.

AIE_Velinos One of the things that are a benefit to the campaigns are changing alliances.  MMOs constantly have large guilds disbanding, reforming, merging, etc.  This will keep the dynamics constantly changing in Crowfall.

C4de from what i remember, when they first started talking about the game was that they didnt say it was ONLY pvp, just pvp centric. but even pvp games like say GW or DaoC are pvp games but have pve in them as well to level up and craft. that new camelot unchained though was very specific about being pvp only and hence why i didnt jump on that kickstarter right away. i also have not the greatest memory, so i could have read pvp only and forgotten about it.

I really want to back this game. But I tried Eve and it didn’t stick.  Mostly because your options are join a huge mega alliance of corporations that dictate the entire game or you don’t effect anything. The dieing worlds will force the mega allainces to start over each time. But the sheer numbers will mean they will spread out and take all the main objectives right away. So uncle Bob wont being winning the same game for years he will just be winning every game for years which is not fun for everyone else either. I hope the stuff the put in to make it harder on larger guilds actually works.

Good point, one of my big issues with this mmo-rpg so far is that a lot of the mechanics appear to have none or no good immersion reasons to exist. Its like they aren’t even trying. I’m reading stuff that just flat out comes off as immersion breaking.
