Starting again.

Daybreak has published an outline for Landmark development over the next few weeks. The next update, likely dropping somewhere between March 18th and 25th, will focus on achievements and achievement polish, prop palette changes, building improvements, newb experience tweaks, claim upkeep changes, and new props and mats for Qeynos workshop.

Approximately two to three weeks after that update, the following build will address combat iterations, “crafting consolidation and cleanup,” and several other bullet points that you can view via the link below.

Nucleon syberghost Styopa uhm, what? In that year it’s gone from being nothing but basic construction tools for decorative housing to having nearly every core system complete. It’s pretty much done, there’s just a few core systems left to turn on and all that’s left is the NPC content, which is work that’s 100% cut and paste portable to EQN. What do you feel it has left to add?

duskonaut ingame resources pay for using other ingame resources. How does this differ from… anything? It’s a gold sink; or in this case, copper. That you literally dig out of the ground for free.

McSleaz brelic It would kind of be more correct to say that Landmark is the toolset.

syberghost Styopa Ehh I dunno. They key thing is that the Landmark has been available publically for over a year now and yet we really haven’t seen much change. Yes it’s improving, but at the pace it’s moving there is no inclination that’s it going to be “done” or even “ready” any time soon.

After everything else this really just seems to be them reshuffling the chairs on the Titanic.  Unless I hear actual good news out of the Daybreak Games camp I’ve got to assume they are doing everything they can to liquidate assets.

Daybreaks plans for Landmark, ruin it while milking what we can. It is also their plan for every other IP they have

Styopa this is the “damned if you do, damned if you don’t” of transparency. Usually a company spends three to five years developing a game and doesn’t talk about it until it’s on the home stretch, so you only hear about it for a year before it’s launched. DGC decided to be open, so you’re hearing dribs and drabs over years and it seems like it’s significantly longer than normal.

The light at the end of the tunnel is coming. They’ll be Open Beta before long, nearly all the major functionality for Landmark is done and the rest is approaching. Then we’ll start hearing the dribs and drabs for EQN and the complaints will shift over to it. :)

The good news about that is, a couple of years of EQN’s development are short-circuited by having been done for Landmark. That’s the good part of what having an engine gets you. There are bad parts, of course. But very shortly (in relative terms) after they start focusing on EQN they’ll have things for us to see.
