Star Trek Online’s Delta Recruitment to feature events, bonuses

Cryptic has announced an in-game event called Delta Recruitment for Star Trek Online. It starts April 2nd, and it involves progression-based rewards “including gear, week-long events, upgrade materials, and valuable numerics through both personal and community-wide goals,” according to a new press release.

The catch is that it applies only to new captains created during the event. Don’t fret if you’re a veteran, though; Cryptic is giving out new character slots so that everyone can create a Delta Recruit. The progression-based goodies also come with “an account-wide unlock variant,” the company says.

Delta Recruitment also features the invasion of an ancient race called the Iconians, who will drive “a story-rich wartime experience that will span several months.”

I love Star Trek Online; it’s probably my personal-favorite MMORPG — but you’re not wrong.
The Star Trek Online official forums are horribly, horribly toxic. I started ignoring them a couple of years ago, and my life has been so much better.
The forums not worth your time. Have fun with the game, but ignore the forums! :-)

The STO fanbase is kinda awful. Actually, I’ll amend… the forum community is an awful one that would complain if Cryptic announced free Zen and puppies for all who wanted them. The in-game community is pretty decent as F2Ps go.
But the forum community… good god. Just absurdly unpleasant. They trust Cryptic not at all and assume the worst about every change to a game that’s gotten consistently better for five straight years.

I know they remastered some of the starting FED missions, but the overall quality of the first 20 levels for Romulans is just phenomenal (imo).
I’m also one of those weird people that likes the levelling experience of the KDF, pity that the community is so damn limited…

That’s a bad guy race in the Delta Quadrant that you’re seeing, although player-captains can earn those uniforms for themselves in-game with Delta Quadrant reputation.

In case you don’t know, they upgraded the FED tutorial/introduction a little while ago, for something more “cinematic” and more in keeping with what the Romulan tutorial established. Parts of the new FED startup are the same, but there’s new stuff in there now.
I don’t know if the KDF got the same treatment, as I don’t really play KDF. I have a KDF captain at 50, but he mostly just sits around collecting dust and playing with his bat’leth. :-)

I like the game, mostly, but this bugs me. Create another character! (to spend more money on various things with horrid rng…)

I’m ready to punch someone over the drop rates of the new strike ship. I’m not going to say how much i’ve spent trying to get that damn thing, but if it was a cash shop ship, i’d have several by now. >_<;

It’ll be a good chance to start a new captain, but after playing the starting Romulan arc I’ve been spoiled and can’t go back to the usual FED/KDF levelling. I’ll probably end up with a KDF Romulan this time around…
Third world problems, I know.

Also… Iconians, woooo  o/

RicharddeLeonIII STO players are complaining? It takes a week of casual play to hit max level. Some people just need to learn to be happy.

Yeah, I’m looking forward to this as well. As you say, the Iconians have been the elusive, manipulative big-bads behind much of the game’s story since day one.
It will be interesting to get a few more pieces of the puzzle revealed.
