Star Citizen

Did you miss last weekend’s SXSW Star Citizen presentation? If so, you also missed a first look at the title’s social module, which debuted inside of a five-minute trailer. The clip “showcases many of the experiences that will be available in Star Citizen’s persistent universe,” according to the Roberts Space Industries website. It also contains quite a lot of internet spaceship footage and some FPS module stuff which long-time fans will surely recognize.

Back in the early days of the SC project, someone poste a series of images showing how things used to be with full games and expansions adding to the game to how things are today with DLC.

It was the best way to describe it I have seen.
Unfortunately I lost the link for that post and the images after the site got revamped, and I think it may have been posted on the Original WordPress forums.

You may be right with your BSC and ASC descriptions, unfortunately I’m not so sure you are.
Allot of people will buy those games regardless and I suspect the publishers won’t change al that much if at all.
But time will tell and I certainly hope you are right.

Yes, I’ve heard people complaining about the DLC system some publishers have misused. Star Citizen will change this practize too, I think, when gamers see that it’s possible to deliver a complete game without basic functionality or content being put into later DLCs. Star Citizen will probably also have DLCs after its first release, such as new mission packs for Squadron 42, but it’ll be real content worth paying for.

If I’m right there will be a BSC (Before Star Citizen) and ASC (After Star Citizen) timeline in the gaming industry, where a lot of earlier practizes will have to be reworked, and new ones implemented – if publishers want to keep their customers and sell games in the future. OTOH the market will be richer and with better games if they try to take some learning from Star Citizen.

Well as you know there are allot of people who enjoy that kind of gameplay, so even if they miss out on a lot as you say, it could be enough for them.

3 AAA games for $60(And can get it as low as $30 now)?
If that’s not a steal I don’t know what is.
Especially considering how publishers sell half a game and the rest as day one DLC so you end up paying twice for one game.

Yes, technically that’s true since AC is a self-contained game, in the sense that you don’t have to go outside it (later, when the PU is released). I can see some people just wanting to play AC in the future because there they won’t risk any of their hardware. At least beginners will probably learn to fly, and familiarize themselves with the game, in AC before trying the PU.

AC will have all the basic functionality as SC, but it’ll never be a mirror of the PU, just a subset of its contents. So those who only run AC will miss out on a lot. However, it’ll probably be enough to make an opinion of the game.

I have been thinking.
Its always been said that with Star Citizen we get 2 games in 1.
We get the SQ42 Single player Campaign, and the SC Persistent Universe MMO game.

But I wonder if it is actually 3 games in 1 and not 2.
After all we get the lobby based dogfighting type game in AC.

So instead of just SQ42 and SC, we actually get 3 games, SC, SQ42 and AC.

GoJammit  As Terry Pratchett once wrote:

saying ‘End-of-the-World Switch. PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH’, the paint
wouldn’t even have time to dry .”

JuniperTonic Actually the female model they used in the Constellation commercial shows up about a hal-a-dozen times in the video.  She’s the one in the blue coveralls with the short black hair.  There’s just no women in dresses or with long hair.
