keysmachine From the interview the point was the talismans will have multiple stats in the beginning areas but come Transylvania players will have to choose which stat they want to focus on in their gear.

The thing about the new player experience is the gear is SO MUCH better than what you could get down the road by selecting between various talismans.

So the downfall to the new player experience gear you get from questing is that anybody that’s already in the game are on the short end of the stick

yes the NPC’s were nerfed but they were nerfed in alignment with the gear you get now by doing quest. The game now clumps in everything you need in one talisman.

So somebody who’s new will be able to roll right through tokyo without any difficulty problems where as somebody who’s been in the game before the new player experience will lack in several areas and be forced to make up the difference if they want a smooth questing experience.

Syppi BeerGnome Just finished the Black House story in the Savage Coast and now I remember why I love this game’s setting and ambiance.  That’s the second time I have gone through it and I still got chills exploring that house.  I should have waited to do it at night with the room all dark though.  Would have been more “interesting!”

chriskovo Nordavind First of all. Kaidan mobs have less HP, shields including, compared to mobs in Carpathian Fangs. I have no idea where you got the number about double health, but it’s wrong and I wish people would stop saying that.

Secondly, you still need your old gear and weapons. They make up the % of the damage you do towards shields. And when a shield is down, it’s all about the current gear.

Thirdly, if you don’t want to spend time in the wheel (that is what we call it when we make decks), there are plenty of premade kaidan decks. I made this when Kaidan came out and I still use it today: http://www.tswdb.com/builds/solo/target-their-shield-generator/ You can also ask in the forums to have someone make you a deck, or better yet: tell me what wepaons and gear you have and I will make you a deck.

And lastly, as FF says, you already have one purple weapon.

AilsaN10 I would say its a lot easier .I was questing through Transylvania  prior to the patch it was quite challenging but it certainly wasn’t impossible  but after it I was killing slicing through mobs like they were made of paper . It just robbed the whole game of its atmosphere for me to the point I just didn’t enjoy what it offered anymore . I’ve uninstalled it and moved onto other games . I suspect what will happen is the people that rage quit over the moderate challenge it used to offer will rage quit anyway when they get to Tokyo anyway because that is still hard . I don’t think it will bring more people to the game because there a plenty of mmos out there that offer a far more appealing casual experience .

I don’t see why they couldn’t have offered easy mode and hard modes while questing like they do in single player games . I know it wouldn’t work in all mmos but given TSWs nature it wouldn’t have been impossible . That way Funcom would have kept everyone happy . As it stands there is a significant amount of concern about the changes and for the future of the game because of what they have done in the latest patch with the Enhanced Player Experience .

EPE is like Star Wars Galaxies NGE all over again. I would stay well clear of this game now .

You now get a purple weapon at the end of the launch main story. If you already completed it before the patch, you get enough special currency to buy one off a faction vendor automatically credited to you.

Nordavind chriskovo No its not.  So they nerf everything equipment wise I have worked towards for the entire game already.  I haven’t found a good sword upgrade in like forever and then they double the hp all of a mobs in Japan with no increase in my own dps with the damn shields.   Its just lame mechanics.   Adding only another layer of equipment Is just lame too.   I don’t want to be theory crafting for 10 hours I just want to have fun with the game and kill some demons and samurai

chriskovo There are a lot players who can ROFLOLSTOMP any part of the game, Kaidan included.

You can now stomp through the game from the get go all the way to Carpathian Fangs, isn’t that enough? Kaidan is a reset in the progression. You’re kind of back to KM in starter gear again (pre nerf) as they didn’t want to continue the gear progression from a game mechanic perspective, and that this is ground zero of what you’re fighting from a lore perspective. Here be dragons.

You have changed your deck, aye? Adapted it to mobs in Kaidan? Because if you’re running with the same deck you always have, your main problem is there.
