Sword Coast Legends demos single-player mode

Bummed about BioWare’s 4v1 RPG Shadow Realms biting the big one? Then cheer up, little trooper: There might be a good substitute on the way in the form of Sword Coast Legends.

Sword Coast Legends is an upcoming Dungeons & Dragons title from Wizards of the Coast that contains both a single-player and multiplayer mode. The interesting twist is that the multiplayer allows for one person to take on the role of the dungeon master to both design and run campaigns for a group.

The game released its first video demo, this one of the single-player mode, with a promised multiplayer video on the way for next week. Check it out after the break and let us know what you think!

I’m going to need this game after finishing the amazeballs Pillars of Eternity.  SCL looks solid.

dirtyklingon Koshelkin Rozyn ah nice. i didnt actively play pen and paper since almost a decade despite having like 60gb in digital releases. i still enjoy losing myself in the descriptions of alien worlds… been awhile since i read a rulebook tho. when i was young i even read them.

Yeah, the DM mode sounds interesting. Hopefully accessible and flexible, it could lead to an interesting and creative experience.

dirtyklingon Koshelkin Rozyn It’s not precisely a red flag but with the upcoming Pillars of Eternity and Torment: Tides of Numenera I don’t see this game getting much attention from me.^^

It’d be nice if WotC realized they had other settings they could use for a video game besides the fucking Forgotten Realms.

If anything it’s a stereotypical name for D&D games. For example, Mt. Hotenow, Castle Never, etc.

Much more interested in Pillars of Eternity.  I only have to wait a few more days to see if it is a true successor to Baldur’s Gate/Icewind Dale.

Koshelkin Thats actually kinda nice to hear. I loved the dragon age story, just sucks they had to cut it off midway and go “AND NOW THE FINAL BOSS!”

Well that looks cool.  I’m always up for the next big isometric CRPG with Neverwinter Nights’-level stories (that is also sans their horrid camera system).
