I’ve got a question. It’s not a burning question, mind you, but it’s one I’ve been meaning to ask for a few days now. The question is: Did you play Cabal Online?
Now, before you look at me like that, let me explain. Cabal II is a thing, which means that someone — perhaps even many someones — played Cabal Online. But I’ve never seen or heard from any of these players, and it’s not a game that’s referenced in our comments or on any of the MMO forums I frequent.
It’s probably just my bias showing, but Cabal and its sequel are examples of those oddly distant MMORPGs that I know are out there but that seemingly exist in some sort of bizarre netherworld alongside Aika and ArchLord and dozens of others. But I’m rambling. Did you play Cabal? If not, do you know anyone who did?

I don’t see how anyone could’ve missed this, it was ranked within the top 5 on MMOs multiple from player votes. No one ever highly of the staff most of the time, but all in all I played for 2 years before I got tired of dealing with the bots stealing kills in the only areas you could do the quests. A true MMO player would’ve definitely heard of this one. Unless you were too far into FF XI, WoW, or console gaming.
I imagine it’s part of the same population of players that play games like Perfect World (the game, not the company).
I played it ever since 2009 until 2012 or so, if I recall well. It was one of my favorite MMO (If not the favorite) until it was ruined, becoming easier and worse with each episode, to the point where the max level and high end gear was nothing anymore (fact that was almost impossible in the beginning).
At the time it was the only MMO that did not have a stupid battle system that was implying you to attack then freeze (No offense, but most of the MMOs at the time were like that) and a very fun combo system.
The main reason I joined at the time were the FB class witch was unique in MMO and still is, the animations for the skills and a few other matters that I don’t seem to find even now, even at the current MMOs.
That being said, if you didn’t catch the game’s first years, don’t try playing it now, it is nothing compared to what it was and too easy for a MMO.
All in all, Cabal was probably the best MMO in it’s first year(s) both in term of graphics and gameplay, with a major accent on “was” that is nothing more than a shadow of it’s former self.
Did I play what?
meh, another copy like TERA. Yes I’ve played Cabal Online for a few months back then.
Played it a little a long time ago during my F2P finding MMO days. Gravitated more towards Silkroad, 2moons, and some others.
I’ve never even heard of Cabal Online.
Considered it, but nope.
Kageokami Back in 2006 / 2008?
MewmewGirl When F2P first became a thing, the market was flooded with boring grinders with not much going for them. Most weren’t even worth the download (which was far slower at the time). That would be why people didn’t try most of them.Â
Since no one recommended Cabal or spoke highly of it, I guess most of us never bothered.
