The Daily Grind: What MMO conceits would you port into real life?

Guild Wars 2

This morning’s Daily Grind is a fun one straight from Kickstarter donor Wesley Hendriks. Wesley proposes we all ponder the following question:

If you could choose 3 things from your favorite MMO to be in your real life, what would it be and why?

I want mark and recall or gate spells or map teleporting first thing. FIRST THING. I’d never have to sit in traffic ever again. Following that, I want the Image Designer profession so someone can just click click click and make me look like Neo give me awesome hair that never needs touch-ups after I kill a whole bunch of rats with a greatsword. And I want playing the auction hall and making sick piles of gold to be as easy and lucrative as in video games.

Shoot, I think I used up all my wishes and never got around to “flying” or “invisibility” or “spaceships” or “pocket horses” or “a job where I deliver pies to hobbits.” And what about cloning and immortality? What about costume particle effects? Darnit. This is harder than it sounds. How about you folks? What MMO conceits would you port into real life?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!

(well everyone wants fast travel, resurrection, and living forever so I’ll try things other than that)
Magic
Personal transportation that doesn’t require fuel
A variety of intelligent species (would help if our existing species was intelligent >.>)

JaredLethal Can’t you already do that with RL PVP? It’s just sort of illegal.

killing random things to loot money IRL could be an easy way to get rich… as well as an easy way to destroy an entire eco-system… well, let’s stick with TP, walking around with a lvl number on my shoulder (and a cool title to display too^^)… Oh and third choice: make GW2’s The Grove a real place to live.

ManastuUtakata Nate Woodard I know what you mean, but what I meant is armor, swords, things like that.  Not necessarily the mindset.

ManastuUtakata thegirlwiththehair I’ve always joked that that is the last thing you want to hear from any doctor. “Whoops!”

Obviously, infinite lives / resurrection.  After that not a lot matters.  Breathing under water and controlling animals maybe I guess :D

I’m surprised character creation isn’t being mentioned more often. It’s really #1 on my list of wants. Then again, as a transsexual, I suppose I would of course put a higher value on something like that than most people. At any rate, that is my undisputed #1.
Obviously #2 would be the ability to cheat death with respawns, followed very closely by eternal youth. MMORPGs really are far too convenient, aren’t they?

World of Warcrafts Reincarnation that the shamans have. Then add to it a memory wipe spell and unaging.

:)
