Black Desert celebrates 100-day beta mark

To rub it in to everyone else in the world, it is our duty to announce that Korean beta testers have been enjoying Black Desert for 100 days now.

The fantasy title began its open beta test on December 17, 2014, and the team is waving its hands in the air like it just don’t care now that it’s hit its centidiurnal. Apparently Black Desert is doing quite well in the region, having topped some of the local charts. The team has a lot planned for the game, including the introduction of the Valkyrie class and several beta events.

You can watch the 100-day celebration video after the break!

plynky12 eLdritchMD Tierless yep. although with that video i was more playing at the awful, awful sound of this game… skip to around 5 minutes and you’ll know what I mean…

sure this is a boss fight but that’s not gonna be better in mass PvP…

eLdritchMD Tierless God, MMO boss fights are so boring. And they seem to look exactly the same in every single game. It’s time we were rid of them.

Dystopiq Ok, fair enough, but tbh that’s not my measuring tape if a “game is doing well”, merely if the company is doing well.
Still very interested in BDO here, way too early to tell what it’s gonna be like when it comes to the west.

Leilonii nynjasquirrel but how could this be??? it’s an action combat MMO! that alone makes it more betterer than every other game out there!

DoctorOverlord Dystopiq Celestia it’s not just the effects… it’s the sounds. I posted a video of a group fight further up that shows how disgusting the combat is as soon as you have more than 1-4 people in close proximity… it sounds like a tornado of angry toasters and bear traps…

sure you can turn off the sound and the stupid swooshy effects and turn down the spell effects but then what’s the point? I could just as well play a game that doesn’t insist on looking and sounding like ass.

Tierless well it’s mass PvP with sieges and stuff…

I think this video shows quite well what you can expect :P

Feodor Leilonii That’s all games of any type in Korea. If you count only MMO’s, TERA and ArcheAge are 11 and 12. So even though both games are several years old at this point, they’re still fairly popular in Korea.

I played it, got tired of it and moved on already :D
But to be fair, it was in large part due to the fact that everything was in korean(doh!), the horrid patcher(with 0.20MB/s cap) that broke the game every other day and the latency rubberbanding was driving be nuts.

I’m still looking forward to the day it comes to the west, maybe it will even coincide with my retirement in 30+ years.
