Final Fantasy XIV launches Before the Fall patch

Make use of the barriers, darn it.
After more than a year of continuations, Final Fantasy XIV is wrapping up all of its stories today. Patch 2.55 has just gone live, bringing with it the last portion of the main scenario quest, the conclusion to the ongoing postmoogle sidequests, and several changes to keep players happy and entertained until the expansion launch in June. It also brings with it a long-requested change to the music played while you’re riding the magitek armor mount, which most series fans will immediately recognize.

In more significant changes, the patch removes the weekly lockout on the final turns of the Binding Coil of Bahamut, adds Encrypted Tomestones to the potential weekly rewards from World of Darkness, and removes weekly loot caps on the World of Darkness as well. Players can log in and start experiencing all of the content now, although they might want to wait a little bit and not rush – after all, it’s going to have to hold you over for two and a half months.

The video is below.

Sorenthaz A Dad Supreme If you arent 50 yet, just follow the main story quests.  There is enough EXP to be earned in the story quests (and your class/job quests) to get your main job all the way to lvl 50.  In fact you cant complete the original 2.0 story until you are lvl 50.

If you find that you are not high enough lvl to do the next portion of the main story, then yes queue for the highest dungeon you can or do some fats or leves.  But I personally did not run into that problem until I was around lvl 45.

spookimitsu Fresh Meat the fetch quest was part of the main story and cant be skipped.  It is done to tell a story and as a whole ff14 does a good job telling that story, but there are a good amount of go get this for me quests.

In defense of the fetch quests, the conversations and interactions that are had with the people you are performing the menial task for help to build some connections with the side characters in the game.  FFXIV does a pretty good job of building a world that you feel a part of.  And when something bad happens to a side character you have a connection with, well it just hits you in the feels.

So I came back for this. An early (first?) quest had a NPC asked me to get a flower from her, on a place that both of you frequent constantly.

Instantly face palmed and felt like I wasted 13$ again. There’s fetch quests and theres this game, it doesn’t even tries.

starcallerasterei There was roughly 40-50 minutes worth of cutscenes and the story is absolutely amazing, fantastic for the RPG side. But apart from that nothing new to the grind on the MMO side because this isn’t a full patch.

omedon666 Unfortunately this is absolutely not the plan. You will need to complete Before the Fall story (which means all the main story from 2.0) before you can access Heavensward content. The reason is very solid: Story. Without spoiling much I must say the last part was freaking amazing and throw the game world upside down hence why it’s absolutely necessary to clear this first before you proceed with Heavensward.

…I have NEVER wanted to spoil a story so much as I do now. Just…watch the cutscenes people.
