Hearthstone players achieve two massive records in day-long match

Remember back when that crazy Hearthstone player wanted to set a record for the longest turn ever? Well, he’s back with a new scheme to create a pair of additional records: the most cards drawn in a single turn and the most fatigue damage.

By setting up an elaborate Rube Goldberg-style of card reactions, player Mamytwink and his friends forced 14,745 card draws and inflicted 108,000,000 fatigue damage during a match. It took a little over a day for the game to resolve.

Mamytwink describes himself as “an expert of ‘useless challenges’ in Hearthstone” and said that he will be attempting a “triple world record” soon.

I find this stuff fascinating. Like the Twitch streamer who did Journey to the Edge of Minecraft. Same type thing. The only purpose it served was to amuse and challenge the people who figured out how to do it, and then entertain those of us who watched it.
I think that’s gaming at its finest. Why do these things? Because it’s fun. They didn’t do it to win anything.
Oh, and regarding pseudo world records, if you don’t think that people pore over the Guinness Book of World Records now, looking for things they believe they can best or checking an idea for a record to see whether it’s been done already, you’re sadly mistaken. And most world record attempts for things documented by Guinness (and perhaps fueled by Guinness as well) are very carefully planned and executed.

This is pretty stupid.

If it’s completely fake and planned out, what’s the point? Why are we even bothering making this a “record” that’s official in any capacity?

This is like holding a record for the longest time of running to the left in FFXIV. It’s pointless, very very specific to a game and is more just a “here’s something nobody’s done because it’s super specific and completely artificial”

If there were a record “longest match in a card game” that encompassed all card games, and it was an official, non-faked match I’d be okay with this. But this is a record given to a guy who made up a completely impossible fake scenario in a specific video game.

misanthropomorphic There’s tons of people who already play Johnny decks since card games where ever a thing. So we’d be pretty okay with or without him.
